New York to LA

2500 vs 3500

Guys I need your help right away I just drove down 400 miles to pick up my 01 truck I have a avant II Tow Bar by Blue Ox and everything is installed and what not, here is the problem the 01 is sitting higher than the 05 by a couple of inches and it is supposed to be paralell or the 05 higher. Anyone know of a place I can get a drop hitch on a Sunday morning in the Temecula California area? Anyone have one I can borrow and mail back? I NEED to leave tomorow and I am in a heck of a pinch. The only other thing would be to find someone local that has a lifted truck that is willing to tow it I need help guys!

Find a U-Haul place close by. You obviously have access to a computer, I'll bet you could round-up some Yellow Pages too.

can you reverse it and tow the 05 with the 01 ?

if the transmisson was not fubar yes I could since Blue Ox sent me the wrong base plate I actually have one for each truck...

This just sucks as I drove all the way here to do this and now I may have to leave it again until I can get the drop reciever as I am not finfing any localy.

To be honest I bought all of this stuff as I am tight on money and figured I could resale it all on e-bay for at least a good part of what I pad for it I had quotes from several transporters that were all over $600 and that money is gone for good trying to do thing the simple way has once again turned into a pain in the arsss.

Probably any of the larger chain stores are going to have something. Fred Meyers, walmarts, GI Joes all have limited towing stuff. Farm stores like Big R's or Ranch and Home will have anything you would need.

Will the '01 be able to drive up onto my GN flatbed?

yes it has limited forward gears but it can be driven forwards no reverse just have to pop the t-case to N abd roll off.

This is Sunday nite but just read your post. Are you still in need of a drop hitch? I have one you can use. I'm in Menifee which is about 10 miles up from Temecula.

Thanks Harold I already left from socal and left the truck at my grandparents in Wildomar... I will be back down either next weekend or that after not sure yet, I appreciate your offer do you know if it is the 4" or 6" as I looked at it and I hink I have to go with the 6" I cannot believe how much higher the front of the 01 is and it is completly stock!

MCrossley,

My hitch is one of those adjustable type. I'm sure it will drop down to 6" but right now I'm not positive about that. Tomorrow I can check. But then I guess you could bring your own with you and not have to pay to ship mine back to me.
