Hi Bill K. & HVAC
People seem to be asking for hard numbers, so here are 1100 miles of continuous driving data for those inquiring minds.
Thanks for letting me use the EZ box on the trip home. It works as advertised. More power, faster spool-up, better fuel economy, and no smoke. On the trip from Las Cruces NM to Tulare CA (going from 4600 ft elevation to sea level, running 75 MPH 2500 RPM through NM and AZ and then 70 MPH 2300 RPM in CA (some stop and go through San Diego), I averaged 12. 1 MPG. On the trip home with the EZ module, going from sea level back up to 4600 ft elevation same speeds as before, I averaged 12. 6 MPG. The box clearly has added initial startup power and even at 75 MPH, I had an extra boost of power to pass slower vehicles. EGT’s remained in safe levels at all times. Climbing out of southern Ca. from sea level to over 4000 ft, the EGT went to 900 deg. max. , all this while maintaining 70 MPR.
As promised, I will be sending the box back to you, but this box has been added to my gottahaveits list. I talked to Bret (Edge) and HVAC about adding the PE box. They both agreed this was a bad idea in light of my 23000 lb. bumper-to-bumper weight when pulling my 35 ft. 5’er. They both agreed that I could never handle the EGT’s on long tall hills. They suggested the EZ and 275 injectors. I think I will take there advise. Bret suggested I wait till early next year to get the EZ box because they are adding some other stuff to it. He didn’t go into specifics, but he suggested it after I told him I wanted to add a boost gauge and I would probably go to the digital gauges, so I’m guessing they are adding some easier monitoring ports to the box.
MY truck: 98. 5 - 3500 - 4X4 - 410 rear - Bill K. TC & VB - truck weight 8000+ lbs fully fueled (90 gal) - all Amsoil fluids - Amsoil dual remote oil filter system - NO ENGINE ENHANCEMENTS YET.
