Has anyone heard or know of what could be the cause of the radio staying on when you shut the Ram off and take out the key? I can also turn the radio on without putting the key in the ignition and turning the key to ACC. I thought it was my gauge wires (I put them into the suggested fuse holders, i. e. Ign. and Illum. ), but I pulled the Ignition fuse out and the radio stayed on and I doubt the Illum. fuse would be the problem.
Thanks
Went to the Dealer and they said they have to trace out the problem... gulp!
Got any ideas of what the problem is??

Did this problem just start? Is it a factory radio? Are you the original owner, or could someone have rewired the radio?
Obviously the radio is getting power from another source.
If you know that the wiring is original then you have a short somewhere between two wires that's supplying power to the radio. That may get expensive to have the dealership fix it if it's not under warrenty.

The problem did just start (as far as I can tell, I usually shut the radio off before I shut the truck off), I'm the original owner, stock radio, 8K miles on the Ram. The only add-ons to the wiring are my CB,EGT and TrannyTemp Gauges. The wire for the CB goes to a spare fuse plug. The gauges lighting wire goes to the Illum. fuse plug and the power source for the gauges comes from the Ign. fuse plug.
I have not "spliced" into any wire for the any of the above applications. As far as I can tell I didn't touch or "cross" any wires. But that doesn't mean I didn't "Pull" or cause a wire in the group of wires under the dash to move or connect with another wire.
I was hoping someone might have an idea before I do bring it to the Dealer. My other concern is, could this problem become a potential electrical problem that may "spread" to other electrical circuits or even stop the truck from running. Thanks for your response.

85CJ:
don't bring the truck to the dealer!! take the truck to an car audio place and have them fix it! they deal with that stuff all day. they will only charge ya 40 bucks or so to fix it. DC will charge ya an dignostic charge on top of a newww radio or somthing you don't need..... james. .

RamHead and 85CJ,
I've got egg on my face! #ad
This afternoon I gave my wiring at the fuse panel one more look. (You're right, I'd have paid big time for this one!) My gauges were fine. My CB requires a live connection to the Batt. for memory. I used a spare fuse for the power for the CB. When I pulled off the CB connection at the fuse... all was "Right in Denmark!"
I had the connection on the lower tab of the fuse. I switched it to the upper tab and it works fine and just as it's supposed to. The live line to the CB was feeding back through the fuse tab I hooked onto.
Whew! I appreciate your suggestions. Now if you'll excues me, I've got some egg to clean up! #ad
