Hear it! HRVP 44 lope

Anyone using Castrol Hypuron S 15w-40 Synthetic Blend ?

Can anyone tell me the pros and cons of these 2 turbos? I am ready to upgrade and can buy the htb2 62/14 for considerably less money than the phat shaft but I do not know what the difference would be in the two.

The compressor wheels are different... There's about 200 degree's difference between the regualr HTB series turbo and the SPS 62... I have a Super 62 and like everyone else I know that has bought one, I'm glad I did. I love My Super 62... .

I was told that there is no difference between the PS62 and the HTB2-62. The SPS has a 6mm larger turbine wheel. I believe the new HTT super street or super stock(don't remember) is the same as the SPS.

It all depends on who you ask. I have heard people say that they have seen the PS62 apart and also had the HTB2 62 apart. Some people have said there was no difference, others said there was. I know of one person that did have both aparat and said there was no difference. As for the SPS62, I am sure it probably is different than a standard HTB2

I have a source to get a look at a SPS66 and could easily order in a prostreet 66 charger from HTT, but have just never gotten around to it.

The S in SPS (vs PS) means super. The super designation means it has an 70mm exhaust wheel (vs a 64 mm wheel in the non super?. . I forget).

I think the SPS 66 uses a 70mm turbine wheel (and a 66mm compressor wheel).

The older HTT Sled Puller 66 used a 64mm turbine wheel, IIRC.

And the newer Pro Street 66 uses a 71mm turbine wheel I believe.

The Phat Shaft (non super) is comparable to the regular old HTB2.

The new line of HTT's turbos (with the killer exhaust wheel) are similar to the Super Phat Shafts.

Comparing the SPS62 and HTB2 is sorta like comparing apples to oranges... . the only thing similar is compressor wheel size and they are both S300 framed.

3rd gens are different from 2nd gens on turbos. High Tech in my opinion makes the best turbo for the 24 and 12 valvers.

LOtero, where are you? You do you like your SPS 62 on your second gen??? I got my info from Brett at I. I. That was before HTT came out with their "killer Wheel" and new turbo. The HTB series can't be compared to the Super series from I. I. That's why I went with the Super 62 vises the HTB series from HTT when I was in the market for a new turbo. I want something that can support 500 hp comfortably and still be able to tow a heavy load and keep the EGT's in check. There was a post on here about someone that put a new HTT turbo with the "killer wheel" and had a HTB series before and even he's seeing a lot cooler EGT's with his new turbo than with his old HTB turbo. I. I. just had a better turbo on the market with their Super series before HTT did. Here's the thread https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?t=167992 There's written proof, but like I said I. I. was first on the market with their Super series vises HTT's Super street turbo's. Take note: that thread is a 99 truck, so it's all on the company you want to go with. I. I. went way out of their way to get me a 4 inch cast elbow off a 600 series for my 305 and overnighted to me when I was installing my stuff, so they'll forever have my business. :D

I spoke with Paul at least 2 years ago about different wheels when I had my 03 with a killer b on it. HTT had the killer wheel quite a while ago. For some reason they never felt the need to market it. When the big single market sprung 1-1/2-2 years ago they felt they could offer a turbo that would easily support what people needed.

As the HP levels have been raised and people are making more and more HP with singles they felt the need to now release it. It had nothing to do with them not having it, there was no real need for it. 2 years ago there was very few trucks that needed it. So to save the consumer some money they offered them a turbo that fit the bill for what they needed and not all the bells and whistles that the adverage Joe doesn't need.

I've always been tought that the early bird get's the worm, so I. I. got my money. That's HTT's loss because with their rep, I probably would have gone with them. You snooze ya loose.

I agree they probably lost some sales over it, but I also understand full and well that they didn't want to sell someone something that they didn't really need. The average Joe with a 450 HP truck just doesn't need a "killer wheel". Unfortunately it is human nature to want all the bells and whistles even if you don't really need it. LOL :D

They are an oustanding company to deal with. You won't find a nicer bunch of guys.

Like mentioned before the HTB2 62 and the PS62 are pretty much the same charger. the 64 and 66 get a little different treatment from II. You then get into the super phat shaft series and the High tech series. These use the larger turbine sections. These are great chargers. I have 4 chargers on my pulling truck. Some from II and some from HTT. I have liked them all. PM me and I can discuss some of the differences if you would like to hear them.

Sooooooo...

... can anyone tell me if a jacobs direct mount brake will fit onto these turbos? SPS62/14, HT2B, Edge Jammer BB, any others I may have missed out there.

If it clamps directly to the back of the factory charger in place of the factory elbow, it should be able to clamp to the back of these also

What requires a 4" pipe? Turbo or brake? The factory turbos on the 3rd gens(which is what he has) have a cast elbow that is clamped onto the exhaust housing. When you buy an aftemarket turbo like the HTB2 or phatshaft, they can send you a turbo with the flange machined so the elbow clamps right back in place. Then you can reuse your existing down pipe. So basically if he buys a brake that clamps on in place of the existing elbow he will be fine.

The edge Jammer BB uses a TRUE 4" outlet. not an HX40 outlet.

The HTB's and Phat shafts use a HX40 outlet (not 4"... somewhat smaller), or you can get them with the outlet for the 3rd gen. Im not sure what that is... is it true 4"?

I would say yes with the HTB and phat shafts. For the same reason Lmills mentioned (if the exhaust brake you have works that way).

I would say no to the Jammer BB. Unless you want an inline brake... .
