Picked up my German Mauser K98 today. Little hard to see but, the bcd is for Gustloff Werke, Weimar 1941-45 and the 41 is the manufacture date. The serial numbers are all over it and match not to mention several of the German Eagle markings.

Third addition to my small collection. It's a Russian Mosin Nagant caliber 7. 62x54r from the Tula arsenal, manufacturing date of 1929.

Greg,

Interesting article, I did not know that. The bayonet for this one is very interesting, the only sharp spot on it is the tip. It's like a regular screwdriver at the tip, the rest of it is just smooth metal in a + pattern.

SHobbs, 45 years ago, my friend had a Westinghouse Mosin Nagant. We were teenagers and did not know what we really had in hand. I remember that the machining and finish was outstanding. The blue was a real rust blue, not black. That rifle was very accurate. The only ammo available was Norma 7. 62X54R. It would have been a fine all around hunting rifle as well as a collectors piece. Those old Mosin Nagants were sold for a few bucks as junk! Now they can command several hundred dollars or more, depending on condition and any extras. GregH
