Pillar mount

Does anyone know if all the 3 hole pillar mounts are made by the same company? I ask this because I want the one that does not interfere w/ your vision. Do they stick out far enough to get in your way when you get into the truck?

Her is my take on piller mounts, I have the 3 holer with tweeter hole too that I put a air psi gage into, its trick ! anyhow the piller mount does stick out mor than norman and yes you can hit your head on it when getting in fast, I have done so a few times. The piller mount does cause more blind spot, the Ram is not to good in this area to start with so you just add to the problem BUT I have found that if you are a cautious driver that if you do the head lean foward deal to look around the piller mount that you can be safe , you must do it at all intersections where crosswalks and crfoss trafic are involved though.

I was worried about the same thing, but to my surprise it is not as bad as I thought. Initially it took a bit to get used to cause it was not a OEM part in my periphial vision, but now I feel comfortable with it and it doesn't impair my vision. Autometer makes most of them, which is what I bought. JMHO

There are a couple manufacturers of pillar mounts, with Autometer and ProPods being two of them. Unfortunately, the shape of the each of the pillars is virtually identical, and as such, will restrict vision an equal amount (approx 2 cms). As another member has noted, you do get used to it and eventually, your head motions will become second nature to see around the pod.



Your only other options are 3 gauge dash mount, individual gauge cups or bezel mount pod.

The pillar pod from TST appears to come in toward the driver, and not angled out toward the windshield. That was a concern of mine too. The blind spot is already big enough. I am going to try the pod from TST, but there online ordering isn't working right now.

How much it intrudes on your vision is very dependant on seat position. For me it almost doesnt exist, my wife says it blocks more than she is comfortable with but she has the seat forward 6-8 inches from my all the way back position. Also if it blocks your vision try different seat back reclining positions, it may not take much to help out the problem.

Just another opinion, My 3 pillar does not block my view at all, no more than the stock pillar. And have never had a problem getting in or out of truck. I suggest find someone with one, get in, set up the seat and see how it fits for you. I'm 5'9" with no problems in my line of sight. Good luck... ... ... . Dwayne

The pillar mount is positioned such that the gauges point straight at the driver and really do not block much if any more view than the stock pillar. If you do not like the pillar mount of feel it does block your view dash mounts are also available.
