I just finished the revamp 1st gen dodge system. We had some trouble in the past with fit. I think it is resolved. The down pipe is 3" for 8" then steps to 3. 5". This is a welded seam. It stays 3. 5" till just behind the trans. case. Then it goes to 4" muffler and tail. I finally got a real cherry '92 in here that didn't have all the hangers tore up so I could know were it was placed stock(hard to do in Wyoming).
I think the down pipe likes to be a bit smaller than 4". It seems to let the turbo spool quicker. I had a '93 at one time with turned up pump and exhaust housing. The 4" down pipe made it feel stock again. It loses all the velocity. It also fits better.
The kit deletes the factory far rear hanger, we supply a new one that isn't so ugly. Also if you need new rubbers for the muffler hangers let us know if you order.
I know alot of you guys bought the kit earlier. We would be glad to fix you up with the re tooled kit if your still having problems. Let us know, we try to stand behind our products 100%. We know there isn't a big market for exhaust for these trucks but as a previous owner I've got kind of a soft spot for the bricks with wheels and a Cummins.
Thanks,
Jerod Jardine.

Jerod;

Is this mod only geared to the 1st gen trucks because of clearence problems? Or are you finding that this might help the other 12 valves?

Mine is a 95 with your earlier set up, The two glass packs welded together. It was 97 or so is when I had mine installed. you were still in Jackson.

Marv.

That will work for stock turbos but now many run a s300 series.

How about building a true 4" downpipe that clamps to a hx-40 style flange?

You would be the first. :D

i just got my kit from this seller and will let you all know how the install is and how the system is. the kit looks to be a quality made one that includes all parts required for install. i will let you know.

are these the units being sold by texas diesel?. . If so. . My bro -in -law- would like to get a new down pipe as we had to ding his in pretty good to fit. . I had to make my own anyhow to fit my exhaust brake. . we like the systems otherwise. . What does the new rear mount look like?...

Thanks for the update!!

Chuck

Rip Rook sells a true 4" downpipe... ... ... ... ... ... ... minus the flange. You have to buy a flange and cut the pipe to the length you need then weld on your flange.

I need to post a pic of mine. When finished, it looks factory.

I'd like to thank you folks once more for the work you did at your shop last July to make my kit fit my 92 D250 more correctly (see TDR Issue 58, p. 6).

I love the performance & sound and I'm sure drivers next to me like the tailpipe turndown you put in. :-laf

For your info, I've had no problems with your quick transition to 4" right out of the turbo and the slightly slanted downpipe without heat shield.

I sure appreciate this level of customer service in a company today. I will admit that my pipe by the tcase is a bit banged up, but it seems fine now. :) If I have any troubles, I will PM.

Thanks

Ken

Well with knowing that I'll re order, I just had ordered in October and fianally got tired of waiting and canceled at the end of December. Theres been a lot of guys down here in NM asking me if I ever got it and now I can say YEP! I know it will be a good one! Thanks Jerod

i just installed the kit i got and the downpipe is completely wrong, the original pipe is bent to push the pipe away from the frame, the new pipe is bent the wrong way and pushes the pipe into the frame and will not fit the turbo without cutting the pipe and changing the angle. it took an hour of cutting and welding to get it to fit right (just the down pipe). the rest of the system fit well but the tail pipe is about 6 inches too short.
