What are your guys opinions on these, think ing of a set for the '93, not looking for anything crazy, just a lil' more go power! Good price on a set? TIA!!

After a year, I'm still satisfied with mine. They do smoke at idle when the weather is cool, but I can make as little as I want when the air Nazis are watching. And of course, I can make a whole lot if'n I want to. :-laf :-laf

I can't remember the price, but I got them on a pre-Christmas sale from PDR. I also upgraded my turbo at the same time. Don't know how they'd act with the stock H1C.

Like Phil said, you can drive the truck like a 90 year old and things are pretty much like OEM. I don't know why some think they smoke too much. Then others say they don't make enough power and don't smoke enough. It all depends on what you have to have and where you live.

I know a fellow who has a set of used ones for under 300. 00

I got mine from Piers for 420 dollars. I'm quite happy with them.

On a cold morning, on first start-up, they do smoke a bit, but once warmed, the smoke lessens greatly.

I do drive like a 90 year old man, and I get 20 mpg out of my truck. You can see my signature as to what my truck has, but an automatic equiped truck with big injectors getting 20 is pretty good results.

I didn't notice much change in MPG at all. I used to get 20-22 on my D250. But the D350 has never gotten better than 17 since I had it. I also drive like a 90 year old man... . well, one that has just escaped from the nursing home. Rolling smoke as I go down the road, but with my turn signal on all the time. :-laf :-laf

General rule of thumb is that a diesel will only use fuel based on the actual horsepower used...

Hence the mileage will be the same except when you use the added power.

So it's either Mileage or Smileage... your foot decides.

Most here report increased mileage when driving sanely due to the injectors being new and efficient.

Jay (as it often happens) has it exactly.

Piers installed my non-Piers PODs (and a rebuild VE) in June 2005.

My round-town mileage dropped when I found I could get out of my driveway into high-speed traffic by stomping on it. That creates a big black cloud, but very briefly, since I get to cruising speed very quickly and my little turbine finally gets into it. If I don't stomp much, the mileage increases.

On the Interstate there hasn't been much difference when light. There seems to be a little downside when towing, but not so much I feel I have to do something about it. It probably has more to do with my foot in traffic.

As the pump's set now, I do get more haze than I want in the cool months. Hmm. . maybe I want to back off on the smoke & get more turbo... .

PLEASE say it ain't so

What some of youse guys may not realize is that many of us live in states where they will warn or ticket for what some particular policeperson may perceive as excessive smoke.

That's what drives me toward not too much smoke (but enough to make a point).

Plus it really is inefficient and that may drive some.

Plus smoke means too much fuel (for the given air) which brings on higher EGT which may be driving some to less smoke.
