Poll: Can you get into chat room?

So here's the deal. I've never been able to get into the chat room, ever. I know of at least one or two other members who haven't been able to either. I'm using Netscape. When I log in, the "java" starts but then it just winds up saying "document done" and there's nothing there but a blank page. The reason I'm posting this in "poll" form, is I'm looking for a common thread between those of us whom it doesn't work for and also hoping maybe some of you computer "gurus" on the board might offer up some suggestions for those of us who are doing good just to turn the danged thing on

Netscape does the same thing to me. Version 4. 7. I had some time today so I played with some different browsers to see what would happen. Older versions of Netscape wouldn't work. I used the latest "beta" build of Mozilla and it worked but window size made it totaly unuseable. Microsoft IE vesion 5 did seem to work ok but nobody was on when I got through so I couldn't do a real test, seemed kinda slow.



Still looking for a workable solution.

Chat room poll

I have never been able to get into the chat. Never ever ever. It always tells me to enter my password and then it doesn't accept it.

Cobra: You must use the TDR supplied password for chat. Your personal password will not work! Don't know why it's set up this way, but that what I've figured out. You'll find the password at the 'Roundtable' section.

Have you tried going to TDR Website/Roundtable -Announcements posting and using the June username/pasword for the chatroom?

I tried this last night and it worked allthough I was the only one there. ( Had a long discussion with myself. )

I guess the admin folks will change the username/ password monthly.

First goto the "website" forum and obtain the password for June, its an "annoucement" in that forum, should be right on top.



Then click on "TDR Member Exclusives" in the right hand cornor. There you will find "Friends of the TDR list" as well as "Live Chat". Click the chat link and enter in the information asked and your in. Hopefully... ... ... .

I know I'm dumber than the average bear, and I an close to being computor illit. I supplied both my personal password, and then after rejection the monthly password. It too was rejected. Now I am rejected. No big deal I guess. I get plenty of good info from all the threads. I just keep wondering what I might be missing.

Are you using your normal user name/ID or the one posted in the network announcements?

Your everyday username won't work.

When I first tried the monthly password, I was rejected, too. Then I realized the last character of the password is a number, not a letter.

I've gotten in the chat room a few times, but no one was there. Power Wagon and I talked to each other on it earlier today, it was fun. As of now, there are 75 members logged onto the site. I went to the chat room, and not one single member was there! The chat room is no fun if there's no one to talk to!

No chat for Netscape guys

Appearantly (according to another thread on this forum) the chat set up won't work if you have Netscape. I was afraid that might be the reason it doesn't work for some of us. I don't know how much trouble it is to go switching around browsers and as much as I'd like to use the chat, I'm not sure I need it bad enough to fool with it. I really don't understand why it doesn't work, I've been able to chat on other boards before. Oh well...

I've found with the chat room that if you go there and no one is on just wait a few minutes someone will show up. Most folks don't want to talk to themselves and log off right away so everyone finds an empty chat room.

Just found out on the other thread related to this, that Ken is aware that the chat room isn't working for Netscape users and is busy working on a fix You can bet when it's up, I'll be hanging out there and I have plenty to say. None of it makes much sense but plenty to say.

Got there and all I found was this blank gray square in the middle of the screen, with a bunch of generic commands. Is that normal?



How do you know if some one is logged in?
