Can anyone post photos of a stock exhaust and an ATS exhaust manifold that is ported? I have a student in my shop class who would like to see what it looks like as he would like to modify his older 5. 9 Cummins. Thanks!

To port the stock manifold I would recomened that it is gasket matched and extrude honed. I think you would lose alot of strengh (of the not so strong to start with manifold) if you went at it with a die grinder all the way through. It's not impossible to do, just one would have to be very carefull on how much material was removed, not leaving thin spots. Hence this manifold is known to crack.

Good Luck, Bret

unless you've got some newfangled curved die grinder burr, I would say it's impossible to properly hand port a manifold without cutting it open.

NEVER gasket match... ALWAYS port match...

Forrest-
Care to detail that responce? Last time I checked a gasket goes between two surfaces- As long as both are done to the same gasket-what's wrong with that?

I'm sure that RD being a Mopor type of guy has to make his own gaskets to fit the port
