Ok, So I have the dead steering at a stop and at slow travel as is backing up a trailer. I tried opening the I. D. of the main fitting and nothing. Tried streaching the spring again nothing. Then I used a washer, thinner then a #4 not sure if it was a 3mm or not. This reduced the effort required to turn the wheel but far from the one finger lock to lock. I was able to turn the wheel at idle about 3/4 turn, If i reved it up to about 1500-1800 rpm I had the one finger. If I reveded it over 2200 rpm effort was all most non existent. Once the revs came down I would loose steering for about 5 min. The fluid would become arriated
This worked until I need to back my trailer and the pump made a screeching pop noise and I lost steering and brakes. So I replaced the pump and I am back to square one.
The pump I have is an Autozone pump with the lifetime warranty So I am willing to try again.
Could some one tell me what each mod does?
streaching the spring would?
Increasing the I. D of the main fitting would?
Adding a washer to the regulator would?
Thank You
Brian
