my turn to chime in ... . WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE !!!!!!!!!!!! , my edge came today at 1 pm , i went out a little after 5pm to do the install , at 6:45 i was finished . i also read directions badly , i figured out how to change settings , but missed on how to turn it on . #ad
so my first couple of blasts saw boost levels close to my VA and 275's with the redneck boost module ,which was 34 ( after i fixed my intake leak ) with the edge , and no VA i was seeing 30 with a spike to 32 , this was with the unit turned off , when i finally figured out it was possible to change settings without turning the unit on ... HOLD ON HANNA !!!!! .

( also note , i would like to see a better way to look at it while driving , its dangerous at warp speed looking down to make the change ... in traffic #ad
)

when i figured out i didn't have it on , i was on level 3 ... oh by the way i'm sporting a HOT #3 ... and i thought i was going to spin the needle off the gauge ... i saw 40 psi , good thing mine goes to 50 ... anyway now were having fun , by my seat o' the pants meter , #1 is better than the VA , and it keeps getting better as you go up ... and # 3 scares me ... . with my straight thru 4" system i am now louder than a straight piped harley #ad
and it picks up speed in a hurry , i did note when on the highway this evening that where i would labor a bit to hit 105 mph ... not anymore , but i also see my EGT climb almost as fast as my boost ... when i hit 1250 i backed off ...

then when i got off at my exit and popped it out of OD , when i started to accelerate some i stumbled , and it was harsh , hasn't done it since , plus i had a check engine light on , it has gone out , and i haven't felt the stumble again , but i did have my cruise set prior to this while at level 2 and also noted no surge in cruise control on #2 ...

other than that this thing is AWESOME , haven't dared try it with the VA , but i loaned that to a fellow board member to test out tonite so that will have to wait , but i don't need it ...

sorry for the novel , all in all this is an excellent product , but i think i need a bigger turbo to keep my EGT's in check ...

edit ... kat they finally fixed it so we can delete our own posts ... no more seeing double ... you can axe your post below to save all important server space ...

Ah, I finally got a chance to play with the Edge yesterday. Since Mopar-Muscle is man enough to fess up, I will follow...

When I installed the box I used it the way I had seen it in HVAC's truck, with the red light off. I was impressed (probably by the Stage I injectors), but it did not seem all that wonderful... (remember I've been in the truck all of maybe 6 hours since installing due to my travel schedule)

Yesterday while changing the programming level, I decided to leave the light on.....

All I can say is that the old VA can't hold a candle to what this thing is capable of.

YAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Green Monster: now with a Hot EDGE on those PSD's!!

Brett, what is the schedule on the timing module??

HVAC, my . 02:

I say a nice yes to a remote control/programming button that could be mounted on the pillar.

I say a must yes to the fuel pressure interlock. This might be dicey as the programming would not what to create some kind of surge situation so a low fuel pressure situation should latch the EDGE off until manually turned back on. A simple power interlock might not be able to do that alone.

As we talked on that drive a few weeks ago,it would be nice to have some power level feedback that would be easy to see without taking your eyes off the road. Goes to the programming button remote control issue.

My vote would be to re-engineer the package and put the user interface in a gauge sized package so it could be mounted on the pillar (or elsewhere) using standard gauge mounts. If need be, there could be a second box with extra gutts mounted out of the way inside the dashboard. The Program level as a number, power LED as a decimal point on that same display, propane power as a decimal on the same display, power switch, propane switch, and ?timing control? all on the face of the gauge package.

<font color=blue>WoW! Thanx Mopar-muscle for that information. I REALLY thought I was seeing things when your double post went to only one. #ad
Glad you like your Edge, which "program" did you get????

Word to the wise for those installing the PE.

Make sure you put a rag under the pump harness before you attempt to install that new 'near stealth' splice connector.

The #%!#$! little black plastic block fell down along the engine block and lodged in the bend of a large wiring harness which is bolted to the engine.

It took me 30 minutes to find where it was and another 30 minutesto get it out of there.

I kept thinking where in the world am I going to find a replacement for such a unique connector.

Good luck
David

PS: The PE rocks!!

kat its a new feature of the site , before only the "cops" could delete posts ... i got one with a HOT # 3 ... boy , it is not for stock automatics #ad

David_VT,

I did the same thing, lost the back of the stealth connector. #ad
Went into the same spot yours did. I could just barely see it, and it took about 15-20 minutes to get it out. I was also wondering where I would get another one. With my big hands that was the most difficult part of the installation.

For the Power Edge, HEEEEE HAAAAAAWWWWWW it was well worth it!! #ad

My brother is going to be here from Seattle tonight, Can't wait to show him what a Cummins can do!! #ad
He is a Ford man, #ad
guess we will have to change that!! #ad

HVAC, I gave Stack'd 'n' Jack'd a ride in my truck while in Michigan... his truck is totally awesome, a true testament to 12 valve power, (yeah, yeah, I know, I'm committing heresy )but he was impressed with the Edge in both #2 and #3 settings, especially when it kicked the back end out at 60mph when I hammered it... takes a lot to impress a guy with a truck than can smoke a huge set of Super Swampers in 3rd and 4th gear... he said, " can't wait till you get some injectors in here, that'll make it fly ! "
I drove my truck home from work tonight with the Edge set on #3, and the grin's still on my face, hours later... .
No problems, no engine stumbling.

Just got the replacement Hot Edge yesterday and ran some 55 to 90mph times with both boxes. The new Hot Edge shaved almost a full second off the old Hot Edge's time.

I don't want to sound like a party pooper but the engine stumbled again this morning while I was driving to town in #2. It hasn't happened again. Just like the old Hot Edge, this one seemed to stumble about an hours driving time after the install.

Kinda weird isn't it?

Hey Brian, A friend of mine was trying it out in #3 on one of the steepest hills in Rockingham County. After we crossed a single lane bridge at 40mph he punched the throttle and we accelerated to 75mph before we got to the top. But the thing that had us laughing the most was feeling the ass end "Fish Tail" 3/4 the way up at about 65mph. #ad

Well I guess it's my turn to weigh in on this subject. I would have sooner but I spent just about all yesterday afternoon after work "testing" the edge.

The install - went fairly smooth, with the hardest job by far being to get the harness through the firewall. I went contrary to edge's instructions and opted to fish it through from the engine side instead of bit by bit from the cab side. The automatic trucks probably have an easier time going from the cab because the clutch pedal and linkage isn't in the way. Next hardest was getting the pin connector installed. DC sure doesn't give very much extra on the wires that feed the pump, so it takes steady hands to get that pin connecter alligned properly and crimped together. Mopar-Muscle had a great idea and suggested that we put the connector in such a way that the pin prick is actually in the bottom of the pump wire - a little harder to do, but it makes the prick that much harder to find.

Start to finish took about an hour. Time to fire her up - nothing. Just cranks and refuses to start, check engine light comes on. Now I'm thinking f@#$ me, why can't anything work right on the first try. I go back into the engine compartment to discover that when I unhooked the VA, I never hooked the fuel pump harness back up! Dumbass! Plugged that back in and headed out for a test drive. I then fell into the trap the David and MM did - when changing power levels, you have to touch the button again to turn the thing on! At first I was thinking, "so this is level III huh?" the truck was stronger when I had the VA hooked up!

THEN I TURNED IT ON... WOW This thing is unbelievable. Levels two and three aere both very strong. I did a 0-60 and got under 8seconds without even trying hard.

Then I decided to have some fun and hook up the VA in addition to Poweredge level three. Holy $#%@! It makes some pretty good smoke in level three but who cares, it's got balls! 20-40 in third gear is simply astonishing. 60-100 in fifth is equaly impressive. I was suprised that EGT's were not as bad as I thought thery would be, even with my stock exhaust - 1000 post turbo was as high as I saw. Now I just need to get a boost guage capable of reding what I am getting now - I blew the hose right off the back of my 0-35psi guage. And get this, my clutch is still holding OK! As long as the RPM's are above 1800 or so when I floor it, there is no slippage. I am interested to see how it holds up over the next few months. I fear I won't be able to take it out of level three for awhile yet!

Okay, I am very jelous of all of you with your PE's installed, as mine is sitting on the bench while I am out of town working. Here is my question, it sounds to me like you have to turn this thing back on after you change levels?? Is that right?? I want to know because it is t-9 days till the install and I don't want to be confused (anymore than I already am) about how the PE works.

The way we have the PE set up, it has a constant power supply running from the battery. Since we installed it we haven't shut it off. When changing power levels it is not necessary to turn the power back on it should stay on. To change power levels you hold down the little button til it blinks either 1, 2, or 3 times to indicate which power level you are now in.

021, you must have a box that is functioning differently than the norm. As per the instructions, I tapped fuse 17 for 12V power. It is an ignition-on circuit that provides constant power while the key is in the on position. The way mine is working right now is consistent with every other report I have heard.

JR2, if your box operates the same as mine and others, the way yo work the box is as follows. There is only one button. If you depress it and hold it down, the LED will flash once, twice or three times, then pause and flash again. It goes in the order flashes once, pauses, flashes twice, pauses, flashes three times, pouses, flashes once, etc. When you release the button, you will be in the power level that coresponds with the last series of flashes. Example, if it flashes three times then you release the button, you are in level three. After you release the button you then quickly hit it once to turn it on.

Kat, you definately have my interest - I know people who are into performance that tell me Autometer is the best product, and I am definately in the market for a new guage. Where can I see a picture of what the Autometer looks like

<font color=blue>Well I honestly can't show you what it looks like as its still being made. None exhist... . yet. This is a completely custom gauge.

You know what the "UltraLite" Series looks like right? They have the alumnium looking faces, and look very classy. Pictures do not do them justice... ... .

You can view them at just look around :Autometer

I know these pictures are small but best I could get off the Autometer Website. This is my Trany Temp #4357 and my EGT Gauge #4365. I I have the #4304 boost gauge right now, but getting that custom one.

Arcticat,
Only 1000 degrees or less in a stock exhaust system? Somebody must of stuffed a possum up my pipe, I'm hitting all the way up to 1100-1200 before having to back off. Stage 2 is not a problem, but 3, and it climbs FAST ! Maybe my stock pipe has more crimps in it than yours.
BTW, were you at the Turbo Diesels in Hell rally in Michigan? I was passed by a beautiful white Sport 2500 4x4,headed away from the event, it had "Arcticat" in big yellow letters on the rear window. Fantastic! Was it you?

Just curious.
