Articat, see the thread 'Sorry Scotty'. It contains an interesting alternative that I am considering prior to moving to the Psycotty system. I figure if it works as described I will move to the Psycotty system after I pay for the new clutch. On the other hand it might offer the advantages of the Psycotty system without moving away from the stock filter system.

Mopar, are you having your 275 injectors modified or did you sell them?

Arcticat, want to go bogging in Lyndonville with me?

Ok! Enough already!! I want one!!

OH yeah a few questions to those that know first.

1. Is the new timing module a simple add on in the chain of events or if I buy the new three light PE now and the tiiming module later will I have to send the PE back to Brett for an update?
2. Has anyone with the new three light PE had any stumbles?
3. What exactly does the brass elbow do, and do I need one? (combo with a 4'' exh)
4. HVAC, are you still selling the New(three light) PE's for a discount/ who has the best price?
5. For the auto guys- Any suggestions on the TC and valve body? What are some of you running? And what are your impressions? Did the TC clutch hold? Are these two modifications enough for modest use of level three?(If there is such a thing!!)P. S. I wont be towing anything too heavy. Mostly just running around empty with my foot in it!

Thanks for all the imputs in advance!- HVAC you crack me up - You sound like a FIGHTER PILOT!- Cant ever get enough THRUST!!

Whoops!!! #ad

Looks like I owe you guys an apology. Posting with a lack of content, five yard penalty and loss of down #ad

Posting is like shifting (this analogy is lost on you automatic guys), sometimes you engage the next gear and sometimes you miss. Upon a miss you simply start over. Well the first time around I entered the incorrect password, and after polishing up the post to end all posts, the submission for my Bulletin Board doctorate, I found my post obliterated!!! #ad
Too much nitrous possibly??? You be the judge. After dislodging my fist from the wall I valiently attempted a second effort(Go Go Go!) and found that although my tracer round "Hey" made it, my post contained too many smileys!!! STREEEIKE TWOOO! Arrrr! Where did I leave my alzheimers pills??? #ad
Well I was so peeved that I threw my computer into the ocean, set the house on fire, and traded my Ram in on a Duramax!!! Well, I got the Ram back the next day, seems they had a problem with the "Check Engine" light always being displayed #ad

Why must we suffer the indignaty of not only being unable to spelll, but to also have our literary offspring banished to cyberjail??? Hmmm???

Welcome to the TDR HOV.
It's been about 3 weeks since I installed the 3 light Hot Edge and have had not one stumble!
#ad

The boost elbow is virtually a copy of the fitting that is on the bottom front of your turbo housing that goes to your wastegate actuator except the new one has a bleed off hole in it to bleed off boost pressure to the wastegate actuator. In other words it lies to the wastegate so you can have more than 20psi of boost even with the PE off. Mine has a set screw so that you can adjust the amount of lying you do to the wastegate, but I'm told that you shouldn't adjust it.

hov , the timing mod will be an add on , no need to return it . as far as your trans go , i did a little loud peddle testing with PE on a STOCK ram ... me without 275's and VA . in hot 3 no slippage of the convertor . but i'm calling today to order my valvebody , i can't wait any longer .

david , i sent the injectors and have 2 that run marginal , but pass the bosch test when run "BY THE BOOK" shop tells me they can return them to bosch , but bosch will more than likely senfd them back as ok , he says their warranty policy bites ... i have to pony up a c note for two more , they have them already and they are tested . i'll get them in the morning.

HOV,

I to have had the new PE for about 4 weeks and no stumble #ad

Heh thats ok tho I knew it was possible Taylor told me couple days ago when I want a new one to call them #ad
.

  • Level I - +50hp
  • Level II - +80hp
  • Level III - Can't do yet EGT too high.

I need to update to the "new" version anyhow. I also need to modify my wastegate because my 9cm2 turbo don't like level III, I look at the accelerator and it shoots upto 1400 degrees. This is only with 20 psi of boost and 4" exhaust.

Also Mopar you might get a kick out of this..... when I first installed it I didn't think level I was much of a gain, wellll after some tests I noticed it wasn't doing anything so I looked in the fuse holder on the harness... NO FUSE. Hehe Soooo I was running around with it "in" but couldn't sue it if I wanted to, it would work but nuthing would ahppen hehe. WHen I popped in a fuse..... hold on to your pants in just merely level I.

Oh well no time to type gotta get ready for work... ...

I've had my Edge in for about 3 wks and it is AWSOME. Thanks Mopar for hooking me up. Buuuut today my check engine light came on, whoops, must be having too much fun. Anyone else have their light come on?
Do not hook one of these up without a EGT gauge you will melt your truck down. Level 1 1200 deg. steady at 110mph, level 2 reaches 1300 quickly in 5th gear floored, hot#3 1300 very, very, quickly in 5th but it hauls ass through the gears and stays under 1200. I havent towed anything heavy with it yet but I think only level 1 will be useable. I'll posts my towing results soon.

Regarding fuses, just a note to let you know that the boxes with the hot #3 require a stouter fuse. I believe they need a 5 amp. When we had my teensy truck on the dyno down in Escondido we did a run with the PE on and it took off hard and then leveled out. Good thing Brett had his thinking cap on cause he checked the fuse and it had a case of premature ignition #ad
A new 5a was installed and away we went!

busyman glad to hear yu are happy , i know what you mean about temps , i turned it on yesterday to pass a group of sunday drivers going uphill and didn't realize it was in hot 3 , when i peeked at the EGT gauge it was just hitting 1500 #ad
had to let off quickly , and this is without the VA and stock injectors . i am quickly realizing that level 3 is pretty much useless for me . don't know what to do , need colder air in the intake , maybe a bigger intercooler ???

Mopar-Muscle, are you running a stock exhaust? I can't hardly make my EGT's hit 1300 now in Level 3, I installed a K & N Scotty type cone on the end of the turbo hose, it made a world of difference! It even cools down much faster at shutoff time. Nothing through the firewall, like the Psychotty, though I'm sure that's even better. But this was cheaper, and nearly as effective.
$38 for an RE-870 filter, off the shelf at the local hot rod rip-off shop.

MM:
I have been wondering about your temp issues and have to question if you and I have the same calibration on our gauges... .

If I stay in it (way illegal), I can easily hit 1500 in hot 3. However if I am just holding a speed up a generally steep hill I don't see it get to Danger temps all that fast.

Remember I still use the stock exhaust with the DDI's and the Hot Edge.

Anyone know of a good way to test the upper end of calibration for these EGT gauges?

Maybe I missed an option when reading the previous replies! I thought I saw a timing module for the PE somewher in this thread. Can you purchase the timing module as a stand alone item? Cannonball reversed his VP44 pump key some time ago and gained 18 (approx) horsepower.

briar , i have a JRE 4" with a dynomax race magnum muffler that is probably clogged enough by now to be a straight pipe , i am using the stock air box , have thought about the cone filter , but drawing the hot underhood air seems like a step back and i heard that the pyscotty system sounds like it is going to suck the glovebox out of the dash , i didn't get a chance to go for a spin in a ram that had it atr ted j's last weekend .

david , i wasn't going all that fast when it hit that temp , i t oam thinking i need a cal check on my guage , i can control the temp with the loud peddle , but when i'm showing my taillights to an unruly commuter ,my foot is on the firewall and thats when things get real hairy , also i reinstalled the 275's and was out on the highway breaking the law in stock level 2 with the VA in tow and had to let out because of the 1500 mark , i didn't look down to see what my speed was , but i was fast approaching the century mark . i NEED to cool the beast , propane i think is my next option , or the [censored]will be on the auction block as it's just to much . #ad
