I forgot to transfer the plug for the hole above the return line when I installed a new pump. Of course it is now seeping fluid. By the time I discovered it, the parts house had already sent my old pump off. Does anyone know what size and thread this plug is or a part number for it? It is close to 1/8" pipe but appears to be a straight fine thread instead of a tapered pipe thread.

Do you remember if the old plug had an o-ring under the head???

If so then you need a male o-ring boss plug.

This attached chart will allow you to test the threads with a fine thread bolt for example, then you can search for a plug using the correct terminology.

For example if yours turns out to be 1/4" fine thread you would ask for a #4 male o-ring boss plug.

I believe it just had a washer like an oil drain plug. It is a flat surface on the pump.

Check the thread, they do make some that have a flat washer instead of an o-ring.

The recess for the o-ring is under the hex head so a plug still may be the ticket and put a washer on it if need be.

After looking at a thread chart for tube fittings it may well be what is called a 3/16" straight thread which is actually a 3/8"-24 thread. I have a full scale chart and the 1/8" pipe plug mostly matches the diameter.

If the oil is just drizzling out it must not be under pressure, if so I would get the proper male o-ring boss plug and screw it in there. The o-ring should seal it.

On the way home I stopped at another parts place that had the pump in stock. We pulled the plastic plug and using different bolts they had we found out it is 10mm x 1. 5. They had 20mm length which with an oring fit perfect. I measured the depth and max length would have been 25 mm. The seep seems to come from the reservoir. These holes are used (when this pump with a pulley) is used on some other brands to for bracing on the back.
