I am going to be changing out the power steering pump tomorrow morning and need to know if there is anything I should do with the vacuum pump. Can I just unbolt it from the engine, swap the pumps, and slap it right back into the engine? looking at the FSM it does not look like I need to do anything, the pump is functioning fine, and while normally I would just replace it with a rebuilt one the $350 sticker price isent too friendly on the wallet.

Unhook your p/s hoses, disconnect your supply hose to the vac pump (if intercooled; if nonIC, skip this step), and undo the 2 15mm bolts, and take it to the workbench of your chosing. The sela kit for the vacuum pump is like $8 from Cummins; $60 from Dodge. Talk about a markup. 650%

You will need a new gasket for the vac to gear housing mounting if you tore the old one removing it. Should be available at any Cummins, CaseIH dealer, and maybe some parts stores. I've used anaerobic and/or silicone sealant before.
