Power Steering reservoir puking fluid

On my 98.5 24 valve I have to refill my power steering reservoir at least once a month. A friend who is a Cummins technician for the local dealership told me that my hydroboost is bad & causing the reservoir to puke fluid from under the cap. Can someone advise if this sounds correct? When I do see fluid on the ground it's only a few drops & where you'd expect it to be if the pump / reservoir is leaking but it's all over the underside of the engine compartment. If the hydroboost is bad & needs to be replaced how difficult / expensive of a job is it?

That is what happened to me when my hydroboost unit failed. Must not be much of a friend if you don't trust what he has to say. I bought my new unit from AutoZone. It wasn't a particularly difficult repair.

I guess I probably should've said acquaintance instead of friend. He offered to fix it but only if I brought it to him at the dealership. For what they'd charge for the repair that's going to be a big NO.

If you are a handyman, buy a seal kit, then it's 20$ or so repair. You find them on Amazon.
The big Three used the same unit more or less.

Unless the accumulator is blown. That’s what happened to my’99 and I replaced the hydraboost. I need to do that on my 2000 when I get a chance, as it has a blown accumulator, also.
