Thanks, TDR Staff

Is this a good deal on a new 2001 CTD?

Dodge Ram Fit and Finish

After reading some of the verbal regurgitation(thanks rich m for that cool word) coming from that guy, I let most of what he says go in one ear and out the other.

Cummins smoke because they are old and worn out

I guess mine is all wore out at 140,000 cause it smokes. Hell Joe Donnelly's truck must be completely whooped the way it smokes.

LOL

Guess I need to get my truck "serviced" so it will quit smoking. Hmmm, wonder if the pump tweaking and bigger injectors has anything to do with it?:D

Kenworth is an interesting fellow. He seems to think he knows EVERYTHING about our Cummins engines. Yet every time he opens his mouth about them he inserts his foot - I'm trying to figure out how he hasn't choked on it by now. I ALMOST  feel guilty debating the guy he's sooooo easy to shoot down! I put up a number of pictures on that post this morning shooting holes in his theory. For another fun to read thread showing how little Kenworth knows about the Cummins (and where a BUNCH of us put him to shame) check out this one - http://forums.ford-diesel.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=30&t=000244&p= . That thread was locked by the moderators over there because of Kenworth.

That comment about PSD's not smoking wasn't from anybody around central Georgia. KW obviously hasn't seen any of those wreckers around here running down the road smoking like a freight train (no offense EMD) pulling a long grade. Put the right amount of fuel to a diesel and it will smoke, I don't care who builds it. Mine puffs a little black smoke. Then it's nothing but heat :D .

well thats funny i dont know what is he talking about the way he is talking is like he knows every thing about cummins, and i want my truck to smoke as i would love to have the tail gater in a cloud of smoke but no matter what i do i just cant make it smoke as it is stock and have not done any mods due to warranty. all i can get from my truck is a puff at the start up and then there is no smoke period:rolleyes:

does he know something that we who drive rams dont ?

If you wanna talk about smoke from a Ford, you shoulda seen the old 6. 9L or 7. 3L non-turbo that was in the U-Haul 14' moving van I drove out here from Omaha back in November of 1998.

EVERY time I'd use more than 1/2 throttle, it'd smoke. And at WOT trying to pull a hill at a decent speed (the van was loaded and I was towing a car on a flatbed trailer), there was so much smoke that I couldn't see behind me. Heck, the white car I was towing was GRAY on the front half by the time I got out here. Took weeks of washing to get the diesel smell off of the car.

Thing only got 10 mpg on that trip too.

Wait guys, now I'm going to start something new here, see if you follow. Since our engines don't rev high, they don't burn the carbon that builds up in them... . Soooo, lets get Piers to develop governor plates and rev-limiters that tach out too say 7500 rpm, and then we will be able to run our big injectors and only shoot out a blue flame. Oh, like all other engine "bombing" enhancements, this also will make your engine have a longer service life... . at... you know... . 6-7K rpm

A. S. E certifidey :D

Gentlemen, congratulations on a job well done. I just finished reading the Ford PSD website thread. KW was so incredibly mis-informed,..... I don't think I would have know where to even start. You guys did a great job of explaining our engine's potential and proven track record to everyone that will take the time to objectively read thru it. You guys are the best - and I'm proud to be a TDR member. Thanks. :)

Sorry guys, it's all my fault ! :D Since I'm in Lexington quite frequently, it's a good possibility that was me that Zeroo on Ford-Diesel.com saw... . at least I haven't seen any other BOMB'ed black QC duallies in this part of the state... Know of a few 2500's , and a red dually I've seen up around Paris and Carlisle, that all put out some smoke...

Yeah, Kenworth, my 2001 is old and worn out from the excessive amount of fuel I'm running through it. If Zeroo was trying to read my license plate through the smoke, but couldn't, maybe it wasn't the smoke that kept him from seeing "BRIAR " on my tag, it was the distance !

Yep, it's those slow-turning wornout engines that we have. Remind me again what is the rev-limit on those big rig engines that go 1,000,000 miles?

That second post is priceless. KW must either be trying to provoke us or he is the biggest idiot I've ever seen. They shouldn't allow people like that to even own a Diesel.
