That isn't clear at this point. They are going to monitor my function and such over the next 6 weeks or so. I will be back at MAYO in June. I think that is when they will start to make more major decisions regarding what do do. They seem to be establishing a baseline for now. Hey, like I said, at least I'm not on the 6 month plan. That would be a real bummer. I couldn't raise hell anymore. :-laf :-laf :-laf

Update.

Good news for a change. I have been in Florida at Mayo since the beginning of June. My kidney function has increased to about 50%, which is more or less unheard of. Through a rather drastic change in diet (read as eating cardboard and drinking 2+/- gallons of water per day), I have managed to reduce the number of kidney stones from 12 to 2. Because of this, I will be able to avoid surgery for them, at least until February, and possibly forever. They have managed to get my nausea under control through a rather high dose of Zofran. My diabetes will remain diet controlled, as they think it is unrelated. The best news, is that if the current treatment plan continues to be functional, I should be able to avoid a transplant anytime in the near future.



More importantly than all this, I want to thank all my friends here on TDR. I don't think there are words that can express how much all your well wishes, phone calls, PM's and Emails have meant to me. You're thoughts and prayers have succeeded in getting me and my family through an extremely difficult day, and for that I will be forever in debt. The only thing I can think to say is "thank you"
