FReinds,

OK, I dove off the cliff... ordered 2ea pair SEALIGHT 9005 LEDs headlight bulbs and 1 pair 9145 Fogs on Amazon, free shipping, all for $100, due here Thursday. Worth a try. I'll post pics. If I take Jeep and LRE out of 4th bay, I can back in the 5500, mark the door with aiming marks, take pics with before and pattern, then with LEDs and pattern.:D

Christmas Cheers, Ron:cool:

It's hard to tell from their photos, but those should fit... at least the low beam. The clearance around the high beam is pretty tight.

John,

Did you have any clocking issues... My Wrangler are half tight to align properly... full tight would have had them 45 degree. LRE clocked perfectly.

Here is a comparison between my 2012 high beam at around 150/200 ft and the Rigid SR30...Obviously the light bar will outperform the any stock beam pattern...I am very happy with the set up, solved the dim beam problem for where I drive...which is very rural for the most part

Anyone have directions for removing headlights to install LED bulbs for 18 non projector?

Update: I found a youtube on removal without taking off the grill

BY request for AH64ID and anyone else:

2012 headlight Comparison:
Shot 1 Low
Shot 2: high
Shot 3: Rigid LB

The Phone lens cant pull the distance...but figure LB to the tree 75 ft....the Rigid goes across the field

My headlights just simply suck. Period. Worst headlights in human history. DOT shouldn't even allow them on the road, IMO. Had I test-driven the truck at night, I would not have purchased it.

It's that bad. At 40MPH, you're "out-running" your headlights.

Coming out of my In-Laws' driveway at night, where there are no streetlights or any other kind auxiliary lighting, I have to roll my window down in order to see the road so I can make a turn. Otherwise, I would almost certainly end up driving into a ditch. A deep one.

Not knocking the truck, I love the truck. But the headlights are borderline criminal. I'm willing to spend a couple hundred+ to upgrade them. Hopefully someone can chime in and help without telling us to spend most of our 401k on headlights that knock birds out of the sky.

Go back to Post #8, Less than $200 and your projector headlights will be what they should be.

Projectors were always set up with metal halide which has a metal cutoff for not blinding drivers. Putting halogens in place sounds like a bean counter move.

What? The projectors come with basic halogen bulbs. LED's suck in the projector housing. HID's work great in the projectors and LED's work great for the high beams.

It is that simple.

Not sure which LED’s you’ve tried but they don’t all suck in a projector housing.

The LED’s I’m using are a terrific upgrade.

My LEDs arrived Thursday and am/was planning to install them today, but my Ideal headlight aiming location is the big bay where the RV is stored 12ft wide rollup door. Too much trouble to clear 25ft for aiming and 22.5ft of truck into 4th bay, where Jeep, LRE, and other stuff park.

We are taking RV to Houston for Christmas Wednesday, so will pull it out Tuseday so I can perform optimal headlight coverage comparison before and after then, and post results here. I'll take headlight measurements today and mark them on the big door in prep for the project.

EDIT: BTW I have yet to receive a response from the website I posted on the Morimoto copycats... bad sign it's not reputable or at least zero customer support.

See y'all Tuesday.

Christmas Cheers, Ron

That may be true now, I've had mine in for a few years now and at the time, it was HID's in the projector low beams and LED's in the high beams.

AH64ID - Have you tried HID's in your projectors?

I bought a set and it was a disaster. They never worked right, and while the light was good..when it worked, it did not appear any better than the LEDs I have now. Not to mention there isn’t a great place to put the ballast on these trucks.

HID’s can be great, but unless they are OEM I’m not interested. This was my stance years ago and I went against my instinct and decided to try again and I simply reinforced my dislike of aftermarket HID’s.

I’ve had the opposite. I had a set “professionally” installed in 2015. They ran perfect for nearly two years. One day I was poking around and found that the install work was pathetic. I pulled them out and installed a new set that was recommended to me by a light genius on another forum. I installed the Innovited kit in the lows and Hikari LED’s in the highs and couldn’t be happier. They are so good that I rarely use the Vision X light bar anymore.
What LED bulbs are you using? Lows and Highs?

I have GDP CSP Mini’s in the hi/low/fogs. I tried a different bulb in the lows but they were too big for the OE dust cover so I ended up with the CSP Mini’s everywhere.
