I just finished installing a new vp44 and a fass system on a 2001. What is the proper procedure to bleed the air out of the lines.

Thanks for the help

Frank

1. Crack the FASS to fuel injection line open at the injection pump. Turn key on and "bump" the starter, the FASS should kick on, leave on for a few seconds then turn off and check to see if fuel is dripping out of the injection pump inlet. If so, tighten.

2. Crack the three easiest to reach injection lines open where they connect to the tubes going into the head. Crank the engine over for no more than 30 seconds. If it starts then shut it off, tighten injection lines, re-start, rev lightly until engine runs smoothly. If it does not start but fuel/air bubbles are present where injector lines are cracked open then tighten and try to start. If no start, crack lines and repeat #2.

2. 5 It may be necessary to hold the injection lines away from the connection because fuel with lots of entrained air is compressible and will be hard to purge out of a snug connection.

3. After engine is running visually check for fuel leaks. CAUTION!!! Never expose skin to fuel leaks from high pressure systems. Fuel can pierce the skin and enter the bloodstream causing injury or death.

4. Drive the heck out of the truck!!!
