I like the stock airbox and between a freer flowing dropin(AFE PG7 in my case) and the psm it works fine. No more budging on the filterminder. You can do it much cheaper at Home Depot, but fuel was $4. 50/gal at the time, plus I'm lazy, so I went with the kit. Diesel Power Products has a decent price on it.

Been using this with Amsoil drop in filter. Works great-Lower egt's and faster cool down. All tests on air systems show this works as well if not better then much more expensive systems.

I have been using this as well,,, I use the S&B drop in filter... Works like a champ... I know there are several members running this modded box, with great results. Also consider the cool hose as well. Check me gallery,, shows pics of it.

Do you still get the turbo whistle with this type of set up as you do with the open filter set up?

OH Yeah, if you go with the cool tube. If you keep the factory intake tube it will still sound stock. I run an amsoil filter in mine and it plugs up really fast. I am always cleaning it but I drive a lot of dusty back roads so it picks up more dirt than normal being the intake tube is so close to the ground where most of the dirt is being kicked up at.

I'm running a 2nd gen PSM intake setup and I really like it. It's a little pricey, but cheaper than most other setups and I like the fact that it really does pull cold air in. My truck had K&N on it when I bought it and I wish that I had compared intake air temps with my Attitude monitor, but I didn't even think to get a baseline reading before I traded the K&N.

Also, the supplied parts such as tubes and templates are top quality.

Cool Hose

There's no doubt. Pete builds a nice product. Simple but I guarantee that none of the expensive intakes out there have spent more time on the dyno than the PSM

I built mine from parts at Lowes, costs less than $25. 00 and took about 30 minutes to install. One 4" toilet flange, one 4" dryer duct and one hose clamp. Real easy to do and cheap! Just another option, my friend has the kit and his works real nice also.

I have heard that it is noisy in cab with this setup. . ??

x2 on that. Except I switched out the dryer hose with a 4" plastic drainage tubing. The setup works nice and I would definitely recommend it.

I just did the PVC Intake w/ the Amsoil 4510 - I couldn't go back to a box after the kick in the tail this new intake gave my truck and the MPG jumped up around 3. 5mpg on average so far. :D:-laf

Not to take anything away from this setup... I had a homemade cold air intake with the Big K&N and I wouldn't go back to that.

Not trying to muddy the water - but I had this setup and feel like I pulled the plug out now. Also noticed the shifting while WOT is a lot smoother. ;)

I live up in snow country with large drifts

I am wondering when hitting 3 to 4 ft high drifts if it will suck snow in the hose and clog the filter?

The reason why i ask is: a 08 ford owner was telling me that with the new intake through the fender on his, it will suck snow in and clog the filter.

And those filters are around 100 bucks so i am told

Dennis
