Well since the dealer had my truck for 4 days i told them to put on the cab lights i wanted since i bought the truck. They look awesome... dont leak and im happier. Looks like a real truck now. My dad said it looks like a semi comin down the road :). For anyone who didnt get the cab lights from the factory to have them installed and of course the cost of the lights is 400 dollars... . 400 and 15 cents to be exact.

Nick

or if you do it yourself like I did, it took me about an hour and it cost under a $100 :) :)

I ordered mine from dodgeparts.com

I was going to but then I decided to go with all black accesories to accent the blue truck, thought I would be different than most. All my trucks in the past had chrome accessories or painted to match and thought I would try something different.

:)

And also judging by the amount of hairline mesquite brush scratches (from hunting) on the flares, the paint would look pretty bad on the flares.

VStahl,

How hard was the install on a scale from 1-10? And how long did it take you? I'm gonna get the cab lights regardless, but if I can save $300 :--) by doin' it myself, I"LL DO IT :) !

For less than $400 I got the 3500 SRW, which included the cab lights. :)

It took about an hour maybe hour and a half to install.

1. remove the visors, the overhead consel, and the a pillars. they all just simply unscrew. the headliner is then free to come down ehough on the front to allow the wires to be run.

2. place template on the roof and tape into place. using a drill begin drilling all the holes that the lights require. (or the 7/8" hole that the light bulb and socket to go through I used a regular old hole saw). It worked perfectly.

3. install lights into the roof and run wiring. for the ground I wired it to the metal framework in the ceiling that the overhead consel imounted to. for power I connected to the pigtail plug that is behind the passenger side a pillar.

4. put truck back together and wipe off any shavings that might be anywhere on the truck to keep from it creating little rust spots.

Good luck with the install, it is not hard and it saves you a pretty good chunk of change. If you have anymore questions, ask!

Another advantage I guess to doing it yourself is that you can get a little custom to the location of the lights like I saw a 3rd gen about a month ago that looked to have a dozen lights on the roof. It was a little different, but the owner liked it I guess.

I bought mine from the dealer for $75, then took it to a local custom auto shop that installs sunroofs and the like. They charged me about 100 bucks to put them on. BTW, I had asked the dealer how much, and they quoted me $200 plus the cost of the lights. They said that's what the "book" told them to charge.

I'm real happy with them. 'course, my truck is still a lowly 3/4 ton, and not a real truck.

I got mine from Mopar4Less for $65 and had them on the roof in a couple of hours. I hooked mine up so that the current from the headlight switch trips a relay (to reduce the load on the Headlight Switch). I also hooked up a switch to the ground wire of the relay so I can flash just the clearance lights off-on if I need to.

Installed a set of 2-Gen. cab marker lights on a 1-Gen. The lights are made by Peterson Manufacturing Co. and come in a pack of 5. Cost $25. 00 a number of years ago. Peterson made them for Dodge. Dodge wanted about $100. Installed them myself. Worked great!

XcX,

Like VStahl I got my light set from Dodgeparts.com for $72. 52 plus shipping. Didn't know about Mopars4less until now...

VStahl,

I haven't installed mine yet due to the crappy weather still, but I pulled off both my A-pillars this past weekend to check for pre-existing pigtails and couldn't find any except for the 10-wire harness that goes to the overhead trip computer via the driver's side A-pillar so I'll probably tap off one of these wires. Did you use those chintzy nylon insert nuts? I'm going to use those rubber expansion type well nuts when I install the lights.

In regards to Mopar4Less--you have to call them.

They don't have the manpower to answer e-mail questions on pricing.

It that offends you, then I guess don't do business with them.

I've bought from them 3-4 times, and have always found them courteous, fast, honest and sometimes even willing to bargain a little if I asked them to.

I ordered mine and installed them as well. 66 bucks for the kit with the discount... . so, it cost me 66 bucks instead of 400. :D

Plus, the harness is already in the truck on the passenger a-pillar for the cab lights so it's a no brainer. Drill some holes, thread some screws, plug the harness in and you're done. 2 hour job.

jsteiger,

Ya, I used the little nylon things. I tried it on the one light first to see if they would work out allright and they did so I thought what the heck. why not on all then.

About the pigtail, it appears that some trucks came from the factory prewired for everything and then others did not. For instance, behind my front bumper is the pigtails to add fog lamps but teh truck did not come with them. It must have had something to do with if you truck was made on a Monday or a friday.

If the truck has the pigtail it is attached to the cab body behind the passenger side a pillar. It is very easy to see cause it is a two wire harness that runs over half way up the pillar and nothing else is there to obstruct your view to it. So if you did not see it I would bet that your truck was built on a "typical" Monday;) not on TGIF. :)
