Steve, thanks for the advice. I am going to learn how to adjust the rears.

I took the truck back to the dealership yesterday. I am replacing the front air dam and there are two snap in plugs on either side that I can't get loose and asked them for advice... . the adviced was to pull harder and if I brake the snap, replace it... those guys are so good with advice #ad

Anyway I asked him why my brake problem went away and he didn't have a clue. I told him I thought that the pull was caused by the rear brakes being out of adjustment and not the callipers. That being the case I didn't see why the callipers were replaced. Didn't get to far with that.

Oh well, won't go back there again!

BC,
have you talked to your dealer about the brake tsb- mine's in there now- they claim its on the rack, they've added shims adjusted caster ect per tsb on the 99's i'm suppose to pick it up tomorrow- it's taken alot of sceaming to get them to go this far. #ad
they kept telling me it was the truck and standard on 4x4's #ad
-- try getting past the service writer and get to a mechanic-

Dabudda,

First, what is a "tsb". I am guessing it is a service bulletin. Second, what did the tsb say, what was the number? Haven't heard about it yet.

Thanks for any info you can give me.

BC,

Try this link to Dave Fritz's site... .

Dave Fritz's TSB's

That 'should' take you right to the Brake TSB's (technical service bulletins)

BC,
yes the tsb is a technical service bulletin, if you follow to the tsb link or mick's suggestion it will give you a referance to mention to your dealer (you will blow away the service writers they are clueless) the tsb on brakes is 27 pages. i got mine back today from dc and no pull #ad

i had pick up my 5th at it's dealer 300 mile round trip. i will post the number tomorrow- left the paperwork in the truck. they did a chassis dynamics diagnosis and added shimms where needed and did a front and rear allignment. hope this gives you some ammmo

I just tried getting to the tsb link but it never came up. Is there another link to the brake tsb?

My 98. 5 pulled hard to the right. At 24k miles took it to near by dealer. They told me the pads were worn out (1/2 lie) and I rejected their offer to do a brake job. I took it home, pulled the wheels and put on new pads. Found out that the rt. pad was 95% gone, but left pad only about 25% worn. Looks like caliper problem to me. I am taking it to the dealer where I bought it. They indicated they would probably replace the calipers over the phone. Now it pulls hard to the left instead of the right. I suspect the rt. caliper is now stuck open.

Rick,

Don't know what you could be doing wrong...
maybe the site was down for a while. I works perfectly every time I click on the hypertext. #ad

Just got truck back from dealer for similar problem. They told me they need truck for one whole day and it is unsafe to drive. Are they just covering their ass or should I be concerned?

Hey Jeepit,

Does your truck act EXACTLY like BC's or is it a violent pull? Read through the entire history of BC's problem, try adjusting your rear shoes (either with a brake spoon or go through the forward, stop, backward, stop, forward stop, etc) if your problem is a 'slight' pull to one side above 25 MPH. If
it is a violent pull, better have it checked out NOW! Nothing worse than a truck that goes left or right unexpectedly. #ad

hi gang follow up - after a solid week of driving i have not noticed any pull either left or right #ad

it seems that the chassis dynamics tsb took care of the break pull-
jeepit, mick's right check your rear breaks but let the dealer do the do- it shouldn't cost you any $$$$$ only time ----

Taking truck in Wdenesday to dealer that could squeeze me in. My friend is a mechanic there and is very thourough. I'll let you know how it turns out. I'm giving them the TSB on brake pull. Thanx!
