Some are, some aren't. I think its an option but I could be wrong.

The best place to tap it is in the rear runner (volute) about 1. 5" or so from the turbo flange.

make sure you don't tap it all the way through, just one or two threads for the pyro.

If you go all the way the probe can bottom out and you will have sealing problems.

Anyone have better instructions?!? I don't know for sure if the best place to tap an ATS is different from the OEM manifold.

Hope that helps,

-R. J.

Tap it down till you have 7 threads left on top of the tap,You can count down 7 threads and put a pc. of tape on it for depth... .

"If you have access to a drill press, it would be a good idea to use it! The manifold is very thick at that point"

interesting..... the stock ones cut like butter

ats/pyro

Mr. Cummins02. . Do a search and find a picture of where the pyro goes, I don't remember the measurement, but it goes in the center of the rear manifold outlet above the turbo. It will be a lot easier to drill and tap the manifold before installing the manifold as the manifold is pretty thick at that point. You probly already had that figured out. The metal isn't hard but it looks about like it's 3/4" thick, by my old eyes. In May I installed my ATS and used studs and nuts instead of the stock bolts, makes installation much easier. The parts run about $30. There are a lot of posts on the subject, including mine. I suggest reading them and deciding on how you want to do it. It would be best to read up on the installation by someone who's done it!!!!

There's a post on this page by Thomas Trujillo, look thru it and you'll see where the probe goes!
