The install is totally simple, the bypass plug is a great idea, and the box performs very smoothly with no codes. I think quad really hit a home run with this module. If you are just running the standard module empty EGT's are not a concern to the point IMO gauges aren't necessary.

Thats a pretty bold statement. . bombing with no gauges. From here on out I am monitoring the rail pressure on any boxes I try right along with EGT's for safety.

The last box I tested pushed the rail to 27,931 lbs. and EGT's over 1550 before I backed off and that was just a 0 - 60 run empty.

I just talked to Stan at Quadzilla and ordered a standard box. I am excited! The thing that made my decision was all the positive posts here as well as Stan spent some time with me on the phone answering my questions. Very impressed with customer service. He stated that the monitor that is coming out soon will be around $299. 00. Has many different functions such as defueling limits. I was looking at a VanAaken C32 but didnt like the toggle switch. I lke what I have read so far about this new bomb!

I also BETA tested the Race version and I love it! After two days it was so smooth I put my VA C3. 2 duration box back in and set up a resisitor to keep it at 50%. With the race turned all the way up the EGT's get a little warm but I have a few goodies going on in the near futrue to help with that! It also puts out a decent amount of smoke at full setting with the stacked boxes, even when the outside air is colloer.

Matt, who offers a rail pressure gauge?
No one. . so I worked closely with the folks at SPA and with programing and testing came up with a way to use their "fuel pressure" gauge as a rail pressure gauge. The SPA has only 4 digits and when set correctly the 27,931 psi I recorded reads 27. 93.

Its super nice because you can program it to flash a warning led at what ever psi you like and recall highest pressure attained.

If you want one I can set you up... opps, don't want to turn this into a sales thread so pm me if you like. If you have one or buy one I would be happy to tell you how to set it all up. It uses the OEM pressure transducer so no taping into the fuel rail.

So, can you tell us more about the gauge that's coming out? If you're talking defueling, than I suppose it will interface with the Xzilla? And if it interfaces, than I suppose we're talking about a digital gauge?

Will we have to buy a new Xzilla box for the new gauge?

Am I asking too many questions?

No?

Are you sure?

:)

I am gonna kill the sales guys!!!

Ok here is the deal, yes we are building a guage, but I cannot offer any details.

I originally debated on opening this up, but I think you guys would be good helps so here it goes.

I hope this does not stir it up too bad, and I wished I could divulge more info, but if anything changes during the development I don't want to be responsible. I hope you guys understand, and if you truly have an interest in the new product we value your feedback.

If I missed anything let me know.

Quad

We are offering a gauge beta feedback program. This DOES NOT mean you will be a beta tester, but you could be. As we are building this gauge we are going to have pages available to inform the feedback guys as to what we are doing. We are also going to be asking for their ideas and opinions about what they would like to see. We have our ideas and are working on them, but in the end we want the consumers to have a say in the design.

You can sign up for this at http://www.quadzillapower.com/gauge-beta.html

I have to inform you that this is a NDA and you will not be able to share the info you learn here on the public forums.

As I said (IMO means in my opinion), based on my experience, EMPTY, on a 305/555 you probably will not NEED gauges. Are gauges nice to have ? You bet. Do I ever feel the need to check my egt's when using the XZillaraider ? No. After my testing in the highest level (std module) revealed WOT 0-100 and 40-100runs uphill on the hwy a max egt of a bit less than 1300 sustained, I felt pretty safe. There's really no way to get the truck into the danger zone for too long with the truck empty.

With that said, I think everyone could benefit from having gauges - my only point was to let people know that don't have gauges, that it's possible to safely run this box in the meantime.

Xzillaraider Beta Tester

I too am a beta tester. I am running the race version on my 03 listed below. I have been quite pleased with the whole unit and the helpfulness from Quad and his folks. I was previously running the Pup downloader and the Outlook monitor. I am still using the Outlook and did have to make a pigtail cable for both the zillaraider and Outllook to plug into the data port. Still have not dyno'd with this, but will do so in the near future.

In contradiction to the earlier statement that nobody has a rail pressure gauge, the Outlook does monitor rail pressure. Granted it is presenting what the ECM sees, but it does give you an indication at to what is happening when you put a pressure box on.

It is hard to keep your mouth shut when something cool is on the other side of the building! At least he did not make any promises!

QZILLA

Would it be safe to run the higher output box while towing as long as you had the restraint to keep the box turned down under heavy load?

In earlier testing of the SPA gauge by mistake I found you could wire it in such a way that the gauge would display the fooled number, not a good thing when the idea is to protect the limit valve.

That was resolved quickly so actual rail pressure is displayed.

ceman- The instructions say to use only the first setting L1 on the race box for towing. Thats not the off position but the first power setting. Also recommended it to watch the gauges. They say L1 & L2 are ok on the standard box and it just so happens L2 on the standard box has the same power level at L1 on the race box.

Kurt- It does increase rail pressure.

Lightman, I noticed in your first post you mentioned that "Safe for the trans is another story" What are your impressions of using the new box with an auto. I don't want to plunk $4K in transmission work to utilize the box. I'm towing a 7000lb boat here in the mountains of Idaho. .

I was waiting on Attitude/Juice, but now it appears it will be May/June. With Quad following up with a "monitor", sounds like the Juice is a distant memory. .

Today's task...

I will write on the black board a thousand times, " I will not bomb my truck... I will not bomb my truck... I will not bomb my truck... I will not bomb my truck... I will not bomb my truck... I will not bomb my truck... I wil not bomb my truck... I will not bomb my truck... " :-laf :-laf :-laf

All I was saying is that the 100hp levels or higher will be rough on the stock transmission over the long haul. I have run my truck 0-100mph a few times on the 100hp level and noticed no trans slippage. Being that I don't plan on running the 100hp level on a daily basis, I'm not worried about the trans with this box. Especially considering you are going to be towing a 7000lb boat, you won't be running those high levels either. As long as you exercise a little self control, I think you'll be fine - and really enjoy your truck a lot more.
