Can't yell loud enough how much I love this Mod!! :D What a difference over stock. I have the Std QZ Box right now, but I am willing to bet I will be upgrading to the Race version soon! I've done it now! There will be no turning back! Looking into the future I see a new turbo... ... ... :-laf

Any way, has anybody put a truck on a dyno with a QZ Std or Race box yet? How about any 1/4 mile times? Soon as Milan Dragway opens for the year, I will be making a few passes to gauge how well the improved tune up runs. Haven't had the chance to run down any Mustangs or Hemi Rams yet. I don't think, though, the 100 HP will keep up with a 300 C or a Magnum. Maybe the 140 will fair a little better! :-laf

I wholeheartedly agree. Great mod. Great driveability.

I couldn't wait to go to the next dyno day, so I made an appointment for tomorrow at 3pm. It's a Mustang dyno.

The first time I was on this dyno (the only time) my truck put down two pulls within 1 hp of each other. Here are the numbers for the higher run:

246. 7hp @ 2750 rpm

474. 7tq @ 2000 rpm

This was with my 3. 73's, Toyos, stock air box and intake, and Banks exhaust.

Tomorrow I'll be running the AFE, intake, and Xzillaraider. I'll let you know what each setting produces.

FWIW - I just installed a race box on a customers truck that has 100hp injectors, and stacks... I will report back when he gets back from his joy ride

Maybe he'll let me drive it... yea - hah!!!

OK, I drove his truck and it is pretty quick. . but with a 100hp injector and the 130HP wuad box... it is very apparent he needs a turbo and a clutch, And I know the TST I have would still kick the heck out of it

That said, IT WAS BUTTER SMOOTH - I mean very drivable and no touchy throttle like the EZ...

very nice

Hey Tomeygun -

What ever happened with the 3 box stack?

Do you mean when I had the three QUAD boxes in a picture?

I was just messing around, I might try to stack the 100hp quad with my TST though... but the timing changes might not like eachother - We will see

The method of timing advance is so different between these two boxes that I would expect them to work together. The TST will do analog time fooling above and beyond whatever the quad box gets the ECM to dial up. let us know please on that before I try it so I dont' blow something up :D :D :D. only problem will be how far do you want to advance timing!

In all actuality I would expect the lower quad power levels (30 or 60) to be good candidates for testing. the timing advance isn't as radical at those levels I do not believe, so the question would be how well the two fueling curves compliment each other. Both boxes drive so nicely that, again, I would be optimistic.

DLeno, thanks for the insight. Glad to see that the QZ Box will add what is claims it will. Milan Dragway will be opening up this weekend. I'm going to try to do some testing within the next couple of weekends. My buddy's '03 truck (305/555 Quad Cab 4x4 2500-identical to mine except mine is a 3500) went 15. 20 @ 91 MPH last year with only a Western Diesel RPM II box. When they were in business, Western claimed 120 HP on the high setting. I'd be real happy to run close to that or even a 14. 90. Time is real tight right now.

Still trying to hook up with my buddy to do a seat of the pants ol' fashioned street race. So far, Donnie has put the whop a. . on every diesel around town. I rode in his truck before I bought the QZ Box, it felt like it had more low end, but the top end feels comparable to my truck. We'll see how they run off. Of course, when I am ready to replace the turbo, TC and VB, I'll run him down with a TST for sure! :-laf The QZ Box may stand a chance for the title though. If not, I'm definitely going to order the Race box and go for round 2! (Not ready for turbo, trans and TST upgrade yet!) The RPM II box is impressive for being 2 yrs old, too bad they didn't like paying they're bills and went out of business.

Well, as you can imagine ------ Theres only ONE way to tell :-laf

I'll call you if I need a ride home after it grenades  :D

Tomorrow afternoon, Friday I wll have the 65 hp quad box and I plan on stacking it with my TST. We are having a little get together in my town and I will put the stack on the dyno to see what the difference is from the EZ stack to the Quad stack. I am thinking the over all driving will improve. I just can't wait to use my cruise control again. I will be sure to post the results.

SOO????

Opps, little early. . hehe

I tried to stack the Quad, but I had problems with keeping the truck running. I need to call on Monday to see if maybe I got a bad box or something. At first I didn't get it hooked up right and it would die after getting it running. Then finally I got it hooked up right( I know this becasue it ran fine with the bypass plug). I turned the truck off, with TST set to 0/0 I plugged the Quad 65 hp box in, started the truck and it ran fine for about 30 seconds, then it would die. I do not plan on giving up yet with the TST/Quad stack. I just wanted to get an update posted. Once I talk with Quad on Monday I may take it back down to the dyno to get some numbers.

On a side note, what a great little box. The size of it it unreal. Has any one else tried stacking with the Quad?

We have been playing with it, as you speak.

If we are going to stack we are going to have to make some changes.

It looks as if some of the things we do don't mesh with some things TST does.

I think the TST is doing some boost oriented stuff even when at 0/0. When I know more details we will let you know.

If there is enough interest maybe we can make a version of the XZT for stacking with the TST?

I have my Quad Race stacked with my VA C3. 2 and they work great together! Once I get the truck back next week and get the new turbo broken in I am going to hit the rollers and see how it compares it to my previous EZ VA stack.

Quad,

does this mean that all your new boxes will have this problem with the TST, or just the XZT? I was going to try stacking my adjustable box with my TST later this week when I get some time, but if it doesn't work properly, I won't mess with it.

Thanks.

I can't give you a good answer on that. There is something weird happening when you put the together. I have had luck stacking one truck with a TST and bad luck with 2 others now.

When I know for sure, I will let you guys know. If needed I can create a new flash to work with the TST.

Quad

When I did the Beta testing for Quad I wanted to unhook my TST so I could test the Xillaraider as a stand alone unit to be sure it didn't have code problems etc. The catch was I didn't want to remove my whole TST harness so I called Gregg at TST and he told me the TST does in fact boost fool even at setting 0:0. I then asked him if the truck would run if I left his entire harness installed..... minus the map sensor. He said "yea, it wouldn't add any fuel but I don't see why it wouldn't work"

There you have it. I installed Quads box utilizing the rail pressure sender and data link and when it came to the MAP sensor I just unpluged the TST and left it unplugged while Quad's box was installed. It worked great, no codes, no issues. Keep in mind I was not trying to stack but to give the Xillaraider an independant test. I never tried to stack the map sensors of the two, no idea if problems would have arisen there. FWIW

have you guys tried putting the TST on first; then quad, then stock harness? that way, the TST doesn't see Quad's boost fooling. AS I understand, TST doesn't process the boost signal at all except to cap it ("traditional boost fooling", if you will)
