Anyone in the Tuscon/Phoenix area?

Anyone going to the Quartzite, AZ. RV Show? It's about 18 miles East of the California/AZ border, on the south side of I-10, in the big circus tent. Tons of people, rv's and a real good time.

Their website says that the show runs from Sat. Jan. 22 thru Sun. Jan. 30.

If you go about 5 miles, in either direction, out of town you can camp for free. The "pay" areas don't seem to offer much. An occasional dump site and water availability. But, it's not at each site. There are a number of "full hook-up" campgrounds right in town but, they are probably full, by now.

It's kind of fun to see all of the trucks, trailers and motorhomes out there. I've never seen so many RV's is one location. Lots of nice people, also.

If you get a chance to go, it's something "different" to do.

2006 Quartzite RV Show Dates.

The 2006 Quartzite, AZ. RV Show dates are from Sat. Jan. 21,'06 through Sun. Jan 29, '06.

There is a lot more to do than just the RV Show. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of small vendors selling anything you can imagine. It's quite amazing!!!

I get there before the Show starts and stay for the entire show. There is so much there that you can't see it all. There are vendor lots all around the town & they sell everything form motorhomes to rocks to tools to flaxseed to clothing, etc. , etc. , etc.

There are RV Parks in town with hook-ups. Just at the outskirts of town is BLM land where you have to pay to camp. There are a few dump sites &, I believe, water. I think the fee is $25. 00/ 2 weeks, in the pay area but, I'm not sure of the charges.

If you go about 5 miles out of town, in almost any direction, you can dry-camp on BLM land, for free, with no services. I always fill my water tank & carry 30 gals. of extra water & have never used it all.

The RV Show is free, also, as are the vendor areas.

I'll be there from the 18th to the 30th. It's a great show, lots of displays, neet people and lots of vendors for just about anything... ... including but not limited to snake oil!!!

We will be there from 01/25th to 02/04. We camp at the second pay station on 95 2 miles south by the river bottom. There should be about 8 of us look for the TRALER TRASH sign.

Stop by and show off your truck.

REDDGE,

What side of Hwy 95 are you going to be on? East or West?

I camp in the "free area", South on Hwy 95 about 5 miles south of town, just past the 99 mile marker, on the West side of the Hwy. There is a service road that is the North boundry of the free camping area & i usually camp about 1/2-1 mile down that road.

I have a white '03, 4X4 with a shell & a Nash trailer.

This will be my 6th year, going to Quartzite and I always look forward to it. There's always somebody with a diesel pick-up & RV to talk to. A couple of years ago, I got up about 4:00AM & drove to the Pilot Truck Stop to fill up before the trip back home (during the day, the diesel gas stations have a tendency to really fill up with long lines because of the huge number of diesel vehicles). After filling up, I drove to the McDonalds, which had just opened (5:00AM), & the parking lot was full of pick-ups loaded with stuff & they were having an impromptu garage sale. At 5:00 in the morning!!! So, I bought a cup of coffee & checked it out. Some of the guys were retired farmers & had gotten up early all their lives. So, this was pretty normal, to them.

One year, I went to the same McDonalds at about 7:00PM & they were having a Country Music Concert, inside. There is even a small stage (really, it's just a raised-up area) for the musicians. They were good, too!!!

I have a CB radio in my truck & listen to the truckers on I-10. It's funny to hear their comments about the number of RV's & people, there. Some of them make degrading comments about all the "Grayhairs" hanging around in the middle of the desert. It's as if we're doing nothing but existing. They have no idea what a good time we're having while they are "still working".

Hail Ceaser but Hail yes we will be there again this year. We base out of Yuma but were there with 4 rigs last January. That place was a lot of fun. It is totally amazing the ammount of rigs that go there and there is so much to see in the big tent.

BUFFALO

We camp on the right side of 95 coming from town.

We go in at the second pay station from town on your right. You go to the end of that main road it ‘T’s. Turn lift we will be about ½ mile on your right.

Look for a sign TRAILER TRASH.

We should have 3 or 4 Dodge’s 2 Duramax a Ford 3 to 4 motor homes.

Jerry Nielesen who writes Life’s a Beach for the TDR will be there.

Hope to see you.

reddge,

I'll be happy to look you folks up, when I get there. Love to talk with all the diesel folks, there. And, there are lots of them!!!
