I'm pretty happy with the current performance of my Cummins, but lately I've been thinking just a little more HP would be nice #ad

Thinking of purchasing the 370 HP diamond 'B' marine injectors. Please reference my signature for truck profile. My truck is used primarily for towing at high altitudes.

1) How much HP will these add?

2) How much torque will these injectors add? (Do not want to exceed 800ft-lbs due to centerforce clutch limitations).

3) How much will my exhaust gas temps go up (if any)?

4) Do the 370 diamond 'B' injectors cause more smoke?

TIA

I haven't dyno'd since I added my 370 HP injectors becuase my Luk Pro Gold clutch slips. The torque added is truely great even before boost. I also would suggest a 16 CM2 housing to keep your EGTs down. I tow a back hoe to 7000 feet and haven't had a problem other than the need for more clutch.

From personal experience with the Centerforce, I can say that you should not add more power if you want it to last. The #10 TST plate will make around 860 ft lb on the Dynojet with stock 215 injectors. The 370 marine injectors, assuming you get the correct parts (I heard some vendors are unwittingly selling the wrong stuff), add a lot of torque also. If you just HAVE to do something, get the injectors. The clutch might hold. It may be stronger than the LuK gold; I'm not sure. The cluch is likely to slip at torque peak with the #10, say in a few months of aggressive driving, especially if it has "creeped" forward even a little from stock position.
It is time you join Bombaholics Unanimous, admit your fetish for power is good and righteous #ad

Rebel:

You can look at my signature and see
how my engine is set up with modific-
ations.

At the "Scheid Diesel Rally" back in
September 2000 my truck dynoed at
381 H. P. /1069 Torque. You can go
back into the "12 Valve Archives"
and look for the thread titled
"370 inj's. /gov sprg. kit/AFC sprg.
kit WOW!" I detailed the changes
the 370 injectors, gov. spring kit
and AFC spring kit made. Those
horespower and torque readings were
on a "Mustang" Dynamometer.

The power change is VERY, VERY
noticeable!!

Good luck!

After the "Scheid Diesel Rally" another
TDR member, namely, "Kat Diesel" did
a very good write up on the dyno runs
at the rally.

He posted all the results of the runs
over that weekend. You can access that
information in the "Local and Regional
Events" under "Scheid Diesel Rally. "

John, I have done most ofthe same mods, but haven't been on a dyno yet. Joe was suggesting I'd have about 375hp, so it sounds about right.

I don't have "extensive pump mods" that your sig says, but I did have it times at 15. 75 degrees.

I also added a 16cm housing. I simply canno beleive how fast this truck is, especially once the boost comes on.

What pump mods did you have done?

Thanks,
Tackett

Well I'm doing it, 16cm housing is on its way the big injectors will be shortly #ad

I'm thinking of sliding my plate back a touch from the stock position to preserve the integrity of my clutch when I get everything installed.

So how about smoke??? Do the 370's cause more smoke?

The 370s will definitely cause more smoke than the 215s. You WILL need to install at least the med. AFC spring kit to control it. I get a big cloud of dark grey smoke if I punch it, then it disappears when boost comes on. But roll on the throttle slowly and smoke is very minimal. I don't think a stock 12V Ram could keep up with my truck even if I went only 1/4 of WOT. I was waiting at a stop light at the bottom of a 6% grade hill one day towing a 2000 lb trailer when I saw a Ram change lanes so it wouldn't be behind me at the light. We were the first two vehicles and the other truck was a 12V 2500 Club Cab, no trailer, bed empty. Light changed and the 2500 jumped about 1/2 a truck length while I went 1/4 throttle to minimize smoke for the people behind. By the time my truck shifted out of 2nd I was already pulling ahead, 3rd my trailer was already pass its nose and 3rd lockup jumped another truck length and by the top of the hill (about a mile long) the other Ram was at least 1/4 mile or more back. I maintained 1/4 WOT only and did not get out of 3rd so with my 4. 10s I was limited to about 55 mph. I will be getting taller tires this month and hopefully I'll be able to get my 3rd gear speed to at least 60. I also plan to get a stack exhaust soon. I keep noticing how a lot of the big rigs pour out at least as much smoke as my truck if I floor it but the smoke is not offensive because it is being blown up high and disappears by the time it gets to ground level. That way I wouldn't feel so bad opening it up.
