Racing Jack

Has anyone tried to lift one side of their truck with the 2ton aluminum racing jack that sears sells? How about one corner at a time?

They seem to be well made. I'm just not sure how much safety factor is built in.

I had a '98. t that was a 4X4. My Craftsman 2 ton would not pick up the entire front end. The first time I tried it, I was pumping away on the handle, not looking at the truck. It wasn't moving. Apparently I was blowing the safety relief valve. It would pick up a corner. No problem on the rear.

I know exactly witch one you mean, I bought the red and silver aluminum jack from sears about 5 months ago, it was on sale and I had a craftsman card cupon. The jack works great, it is very light and pumps up just fine. I have used other aluminum jacks before that were awefull, they didn't lift anything heavy very good. They were always 2500 or 3000lb racing jacks, and their one pump lift is for the birds, might work on a light race car but not in the real world. The Sears jack is rated at 4000lbs, it has a one pump fast lift, but that just takes you up till it hits, then you can just jack it up at will. I still have my big shop jack, and I still use it, but I am getting more use to the aluminum one. Jacks are funny for me, I have to build up to trusting them.

i want to get myself a 2T aluminum jack that i can keep in the bed of the truck. with the 315's, if i get a flat, the factory jack doesn't have enough reach [i have a couple of 2"x6"x10" blocks of wood to make up for that right now]

I bent mine jacking my truck up!



just tweaked it a little... still works well. I use the old steel jack on the truck now. I bought the aluminum because it's so low and easy to maneuver... heck, I don't have to USE a jack to work on the truck 99% of the time, so hualing out the old steel jack every now and again isn't gonna kill me.

Don't ever trust one - Make sure to always use a jack stand. Your counting on a $0. 10 O-ring to possible save your life. Anyway with 1400+ posts, you know too much about these trucks to be squished under the front end of your truck...

Something doesn't look quite right about that pic!!! LOL Do you put that jack in your pocket when you are done, or just zip tie it to the axle?? LOL

here's a good one for ya. i actually ordered the craftsman racing jack(full size). got the call that it was in and this is what they had for me,,the miniature working model:--) i went ahead and paid for it and never did re-order the life-size version.

my boy likes it !!!

I'm in the same boat as you. I've been keeping my eye out but just don't trust the low tonnage rating.

My front axle weights are about 4300 pounds..... I bought the 3 ton jack from Sears and it works like a charm.

Jack stands every time I lift the truck and crawl under!

Definately use jack stands. I know most of us have the common sense to do this, but a co-worker of mine years ago got killed when the car he was working on crushed him. Wife came out at 2:00am and found him. He had just had a baby girl. Real nice guy too.

OK, I went ahead and bought the Craftsman Aluminum Racing Jack.

Used it when I rotated my tires last night.



I picked a corner at a time with no problem( takes a healthy push on the handle for a hydraulic).



I don't know what my truck weighs, but with the road armor bumper and bedslide full of tools and such, and being a dually, it's not light.



I don't have a garage to park a big jack in so it works great for me, as I just park it in the truck. At 44 lbs it beats hauling around a 3+ ton steel jack.

Yes I did use jack stands.
