Quality grease like Redline or Delvac - I'd add some at new installation as well. Add through speed sensor hole and spin as you do. You'll feel the bearings loading up with grease.

I’ve always wondered where the old grease goes?!

How much, and how often, are you dressing them?

Probably this.

I have a simple question?

What are you greasing in the front wheel BRG's hub assemblies, since the bearings are sealed and grease can not get into the sealed area of the bearing!!!

When I was working at Cat, the powertrain design team used sealed BRG'S from many different suppliers and none of them could be greased since the BRG's were sealed on both sides. So, again what are you really greasing the drive splines on the shaft?

In the late 70's and forward, greaseable BRG's were being replaced with sealed non-greaseable BRG's in powertrain designs and other applications at Caterpillar. Why for easy of service? The customers that used at least earthmover machines wanted to eliminate some service cost and down time for service. This was one area that the customer could save $$$ due to down time and service cost of greasing unnecessary components.

None of my families prior or current 4X4 vehicles have ever had non-sealed front wheel BRG'S that could be grease. This included 3-Jeeps, 5- Dodge/Ram trucks, 4-Ford trucks and 2-Chevy trucks.

Just saying!

Yes they are sealed on both sides, but the hole for the ABS sensor is open to the “sealed” bearing. Greasing thru the ABS hole will push grease to the bearings.

To clarify the Unit is sealed not the bearings, I have pressed apart a few hubs and there is absolutely no seal on the bearings themselves so any grease pumped through the ABS hole goes around the tone ring and right to the bearings. There is very little grease from the factory and I put 30-40 pumps in mine, eventually a little will get past the seals but never had a bearing fail that was greased.

Any link you can supply with the exact grease you’re recommending? Also.....you said “used” as in past tense......

Hi
There is only one grease from Redline available, they call it Red Moly.
Past - because I switched to Freespin Hubs to get the advantage of 2-LO ability.
I had the Redline once in them but it is to "thin" and wanders from the Bearing chamber into the Freespin assembly, blocking these up filled with grease.
Now I use Valvoline, this one https://www.valvoline.com/our-products/grease-gear-oil/full-synthetic-grease , it is way thicker and doesn't liquefies so much under heat.
Great product for Freespin Hubs.

I also use the Valvoline Synpower grease in the front hubs and u-joints. When I put the Carli ball joints in a few years ago they said the Valvoline Synpower grease was ok for their ball joint service.

update,
thanks again for the great replies. I have listened. the new SKF Hub is installed, the EBC slotted and dimpled rotors and Orange pads are on the way. thanks to all for the Greasing updates too, Cause I was thinking, maybe these guys are just feeling the tone ring load with grease and that sealed bearing just lives or dies the same as without a greased tone ring lol. I have the Sensor pulled on remaining original hub and will grease it tomorrow.

Thank you everyone!
Back on the road with a Brand spankin new SKF Hub assy ( Rock Auto), Dimpled and slotted EBC rotors, and Orange Extra Duty EBC pads.
Almost at 200 mile break in now. Definitely a little Squealing only at parking lot speed stopping. But manufacturers instructions say to expect that for break in.
I was operating with a frozen Caliper pin on drivers side. But I will say the braking is noticeably better than when the truck was new.
Another important note. EBC is incredible. I found best prices on Amazon with Purely powersports. The estimated delivery was like 3 week wait! But the seller shipped them immediately and I had them in days. Also one box arrived damaged and trashed all spring steel parts on pads. EBC hotline was amazing. They next day shipped my replacement pads without me even asking.
I will be buying rear EBC brakes from same seller as soon as I can get to it.
Also I lubed original hub on drivers side and hopefully there's a long life ahead.
thanks again for all the valuable info.

I see that several people grease the hubs but no mention if a special end for the gun is needed. Is it just a direct fit on the hole and try not to let too much escape out the sides or do you need something like a needle tip to insert the grease? I've never removed the sensors so don't know what it looks like underneath them.
