I have the rear disc conversion on my 93, the calipers are from a 76-78 Cadillac Eldorado,Riviera, Toronado. my question is I need to replace the pads, how do I retract the pistons, do I disconnect the parking brake and wind them back in???? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Caleb

I am not familiar with your set-up, but would a "C" clamp work. That is what I use to push the pistons back.

I don't think a C clamp will work, these calipers have a parking brake built into them, I think that there is a threaded shaft into the back of the piston, there has to be some way of backing the piston up.

i also do not know, the ones i have delt with you screwed in the

piston

Thanks I might just give that a try, was hoping that someone who had worked on an old Cadillac, Buick, or Olds would chime in.

Lisle makes a tool to screw the piston back in, look at Napa or some other parts store where they have lisle tools. I'm sure snap on makes one but $$$. I've never done rear discs personally on an old GM, but a buddy of mine's dad has had a million of those cars and I think I recall seeing that tool in his garage. the piston should have square recesses in it, check it out...
