2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission rear end fish tailing

Hi, got a Dana 70 rear. Changed fluid about a yr ago to valvoline synthetic 75 90. Drove fine until about two months ago, noticed that the rear wanted to slide on take off, (wet roads) at slow spds,low throttle, I drive it like a grandma on road. The other week was driving, again on wet roads, gave it throttle going up a slight grade and all heck broke loose, barely got back control of it, thank goodness nobody else was around. And this was by no means being agressive on the gas pedal. Done research in old posts, and am wondering if I need to go back to petro diff fluid? Also, increased the fueling(new injectors,new box) at about the time started having rear end issues. Truck hits 30ish boost too easy, about as high as I want to go on stock head.

Sounds like you have a limited slip rear and the power upgrade is now causing your rear to break loose in low traction situations. Sounds normal to me. My 2WD does the same thing. It was almost to the point of not being able to drive it before I replaced my worn out tires.

As BP said, worn tires can do it, especially if the rubber has become rather hard or the tires are somewhat overinflated. A fuel leak could cause traction loss on wet roads just like you describe; but then, you'd've noticed that kind of a leak.

Find a way to hook up the power ( new tires, and learn how to drive it ) and have some fun.

Additonal power equals more TQ, its the nature of the beast. Time for better tires or live with it. Never have been able to keep the rear tires planted on any of these trucks once the power is upped. A little too much throttle and no traction when it is raining.

thanks, the tires are fairly new, mastercraft coursers, but I know the rears are over inflated for being empty from when I had firewood in the bed the other week, didnt even think of that. I dont have any fuel leaks anymore thank goodness. Just something Im gonna have to be careful with from now on, and turn the smarty down.
