Does anyone know if the spring packs are the same for the pickups? Mine is a 98... would springs from an 01 fit? I can get a set for $65.

Don't know about that but if you are interested, I own a brand new set of Firestone Riderite airbags, still in the box, never opened. Bought for my 98 2500 QC LWB 2WD when I thought I was going to buy a heavier camper for it. Never bought the camper so never bothered to put the air bags on.

I have part number 2071. According to Firestone's installation guidelines, these fit Ram 2500 (4x2)(4x4) for years 69-02. http://www.riderite.com/vehicle_apps.htm

It does specify a different set if you have the contact overload springs. I'm not sure how you would verify that but am sure others on here can say.

The box says it includes everything needed and is easily installed with simple hand tools. http://www.riderite.com/installation_instructions/2071.pdf

I found them new online for $256. 65 http://www.carjunky.com/accessories/norm_catalog/dbrands.php?make=7&year=1998&model=82&category=9&part_name=566

I will sell them for $125 plus actual shipping cost. I would think UPS would be the best option.

I checked with Firestone and the 2071 kit won't work with the trucks that have overloads on top of the main pack.

I asked the Firestone guy about that, and he said the air springs would be too short if I did that, since they are designed for a truck with the overloads integrated in the spring pack.

Yes, they are the same... I believe the springs from 94 to 02 are all the same in the 2500s... I put a 96 spring on my dad's 99 and he is running a pack from an 01 on the other side... yes, his truck eats rear springs!

I went looking for spring packs... $65 a side, not too bad.

But, my truck is the 8800lb weight rating. What was the other weight rating?? I've been told my is bascially a "heavy 3/4 ton"

I want to make sure to get the heavier weight springs... . how can I tell?

I was looking at mine tonight while I was under the truck. They are not stacked "neatly". A couple of the leafs are about 1/2" off on each end. Kind of like they twisted. Should I be concerned about this? I would think they should all be in line. Maybe I can knock them back into place with a hammer.

8800 is the correct weight for the HD 3/4. I believe they only made that GVW in the 3/4 ton... the little additional "helper" spring pack only assisted in level load carrying. I do not know what the 1 ton springs would gain you...

Sounds like the bolts might be loose... IMO, I would take and loosen the ubolts some, realign them, then tighten them down again... checking them again after about 200 miles. This condition happened to me with my 99... it allowed the "helper" springs to twist enough to catch a bolt head on the frame... it sounded like a gun going off when it would catch.

I have airlift brand bags on my 2500, I took off the factory overload springs and everything fits fine. The kit came with adaptors to make it all fit right.

There is very little difference between the 2500 with Camper option and the 3500 spring pack. The number on the overload leaf is the same, the main pack number is one off. They appear the same, however!!! As we all know, the 2500 with Camper package was the SRW 1 ton!!!!! DC just forgot to up the 8800 rating. SNOKING

Ok. I'll try finding a 3500 to get the springs from.

I was looking today and I have a question. On the driver's side, the front spring hanger bolt, do I need to remove the gas tank to get that bolt out?

Yes... or no... I know on my 1500 had enough room... but that is talking 2. 5" springs, not 3".
