Competition How about this transmission in my puller???

I'm getting a Southbend clutch installed this week, so I'm tempted to try some sled pulling next year.

At some of the the pulls I've watched I've seen some people install a plate or block between the axle and frame. This basically keeps the rear end from coming down on the springs.

I think the idea is it keep your hitch height at the maximum allowed.

So..... do any of the Dodge pullers install a temporary block or spacer to keep the rearend from squatting?

yes---sometimes you can solid block the suspension, but most times they require 2" of suspension travel--so you need to be prepared to go either way..... chris

Be aware that SBC's aren't recomended for sled pulling.

I think you night want to talk to Peter at SBC about the sled pulling thing.

Just a heads up.

Have fun.

P. S. Not that I listen, as I don't think they are intended for drag racing either :D which I do. I just know mine doesn't hold very well once it slips for a little bit. (riding it, etc. )

AHHA! AIR BAGS!

If you want to see how your clutch will hold up pulling, go to the Tulare Videos and click on Piers.

Seeing that they are not cheap, I expect you don't want to buy another soon, eh?

If you insist, run your hitch about 20"-22', run stock tires with normal air pressure, do not weight the truck up, leave at lowest rpm possible that does not get under the turbo, and don't get greedy with gear selection.

Also, tip your mirrors down to make sure the tires are spinning and not just sitting there while the engine is revving.

If it hops, shut it down, carnage is soon to follow.

Remember, to have fun!!!!!!!!:D :D

if you are installing the Con FE clutch..... dont slip it! or we will have to change your name from Irontrader to Sparktrader.

Where is the next Pull that is close to Beaverton?
