Off Roading Good tow strap?

Competition truck pulling?

So has anyone been able to pull using a dana 70. Is this thing going to last for some pulls or a i pretty much treading thin ice with this rearend? I got ladder bars and am going to block up the suspension if that matters. If this thing is a guranted break in the first couple pulls then i need to try and find an 80 and at least i would have a 70 worth selling if i do the swap now. Give me some opinions. Thanks, Matt

I made about 40 pulls on my 95 when it was an auto with the 70 rear end. i tore up one lsd unit and one pinion. i think with the ladder bars you should be able to make a few pulls on it. i would like to have a dana 80 sitting there though. i would recommend swapping it to an 80 and keeping the 70 for a spare.

Those rockwells would be awesome but i think they might not like them in the street class. I am searching for a dana 80 with 3:54's but funds are getting tight. Might have to put a few hooks on the dana 70. It held up fine last year but that was with the auto and a lot less horses under the hood. :D Matt

I thought the hybrid 80 in the stick shift trucks had the larger 80 axle shafts but had the 70 brakes & hubs. Somebody correct me if im wrong.

---I know they have the bigger axles--I put a 80 in after I busted my 70 and it had bigger shafts--and the brakes are larger also vs what comes on the 70--chris

The D80 has 1. 50" 35 spline axles and the HD-D70 in the dodge with the cummin's has 1. 50" 35 spline axles but the standard D70 has 1. 42" 32 spline axles.

If you run rockwells you'll need around 44" tall tires. They only come in 6. 72 ratio. Any shorter tire and I don;t care how much HP you have... you'll run out of motor before you run out of track.
