i need some help picking out some guages. i have the banks ones now but i am getting a TTPM box so i will need some new gauges. one thing is i have a 1/4inch hole in my exhause manafold so the pyro gauge will have to fit that one.

thanks for the help.

I would probably go with Autometer gauges, or Isspro... . I do not care for DiProcol's, just because they look cheap, and a friend had some on his truck, and his pyro kept fogging up. . no reason, it just did. check out Piers Diesel and talk to either Piers or Harry... Top Notch people!!! if you have anymore questions, PM me.

I just replaced my 3 year old Isspro boost and pyro with Isspro EV's. These are great gauges and the visibilty is excellent day and night. The main complaint I had with my old ones was the lighting. The EV's are great. Highly recommended. I got them from Rod Snaith at Wildcat Diesel. www.wildcatdiesel.com

DiPricol all the way, several different models/ styles to choose from, and are very tough, and accurate. I have installed many, many, sets of these on customers trucks, and have then on mine, never one complaint. They also make 1/4 NPT for your existing hole. The way I understand it, DiPricol's are facory gauges on Caterpillar heavy equipment, thats all I needed to know.

Isspro's are the cheapest gauges I've ever seen, to many unnessesary boxes/wires, and have installed some, when pulled out the the package, wires were pulled out of the various boxes, IMO, they are a sorry excuse for a gauge.

I agree!!!

I finally 100% agree with Rob Thomas:D

Can't we just get along...

Dipricol is the best, easy to install and mechanical. l

too bad the pricol pyro gauge doesn't match the rest of their stuff. that ugly plastic thing in the center of the gauge is more than enough to keep me from buying them. make it match the boost and FP and others, and then they'll have an absolute winner...

now, for looks, i really like that new autometer c2 gauges. . [too bad boost only goes to 30 psi on it... ]

Nick, looks aren't my first choice (however I love the look of the DiPricol's), how things are built, and how they perform, are the first things I look at, if it looks good, thats just a bonus. DiPricol makes everything I'm looking for in a gauge, 2000* pyro, 60# boost, and 30# mechanical fuel pressure gauge. There are more choices than just the black faced DiPricols, do a search and you'll see.

Ok.. Answer this then:

If ISSPRO's are the cheapest gauges, why are they standard issue on Peterbilt, KWhoppers, and Freight Shakers?? Obviously they must do something right... I had a 379 with 19 ISSPRO Gauges on the dash, and with 650,000 miles, every single one worked perfectly... . DiProcol gauges are generic from my experiences. . a friend (No names) had 2 on his truck, and the first time out, the pyro fogs... . whats up with that? he calls and gets a new one, and the new one does the same thing! That sounds like a cheap gauge, if you asked me. They (DiProcol) also look generic. Not trying to instigate something, but you know where I am coming from.

Nick,

DiPricol is supposed to have some new gauges out that match the '03 dash gauges and the ugly "horseshoe" thingy will not be on the pyro. This isn't a rumor, I got this info straight from DiPricol.

Oh great, another war on, oil, transmission, paint color..... oh I mean gauges:rolleyes: .

Best advice- get whatever YOU think looks best in YOUR truck, and just be done with it. I have personally had both automoeter and isspro, and even a westach and Banks. I've had little problems with ALL OF THEM, and they were all dealt with under warranty.

I personally like the ISSPRO EV gauges, but opinions are opinions.

If you're looking at Isspro and Autometer, check DIS .

Chris,

I don't have an answer for your friends fogging gauge, I haven't had that problem, and know no one who has. The isspros that I've installed look like they came out of a gumball machine, maybe the class-8 gauges are made differently than the ones I've had experience with. And, no, I don't have any idea where you are coming from.

SPA

Mine are the Mk. 1 dual digital units and the Mk. 2 have adjustable backlighting, although I never found the backlighting to be objectionable at night. They've been fitted for almost two years and 25k+ miles now and I cannot recommend them highly enough - related links for SPA in my sigfile in case you're interested.

These gauges are all the same size, it's just the angle at which the picture was taken makes it slightly confusing. There are some pretty good A-pillar mounts (with or without speaker facitilities) out there if you want to reserve the ol' cubby hole in the dashboard for something else... ... ;)

You answered your question in your question.

They did something right--low bidder... . LOL!:D

www.enterpriseengine.com has their own line of guages, priced reasonable.

I like the SPA, but it has been less than durable.
