Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Recommended Synthetic

I know this has been done to death;but in the latest issue of the TDR page 72 it seems that Dodge prefers a 5-40 in the 3rd gens. But what about the second gens. My amsoil dealer said I should be using 15-40 all year. And that the 5 -40 is a lower grade base. Rotella sys comes in both a 5 - 40 and a 15- 40. I wonder if their base is the same in both.
