Red Bucket Seats

So the story goes as follows: I pick up a decent pair of red bucket seats for the crew, and although the cloth needs replacing, the foam is good. I take it to a reappolsterer and he said that it will be about $800-$1200 per seat to do it in the factory material! :--):{:--)



So, scrap that idea. Idea two. As I still want to use the 1st gen buckets, find a nice pair.



The question is, where can I find a MINT pair of red buckets seats? I tried Car-Part.com and well, you know what those look like!



Any thoughts??

$8-1200?!?!?! HOLY COW. I think they get like $100-150 per seat around here. It may not be geniune Mopar fabric, but it would be real similar.

What I did on my crewcab was put a second gen seat in with the builtin seat belt's yeah they sat up higher but that didnt hurt any rode Sweet maybe think about that ?

LMOL got me leather buckets (40/20/40) to replace the split bench in my '93 D-250. Got them from Suburban seats in NY. (Suburban Auto Seats Truck Seats, Truck Seat, New Truck Seats, Tractor Seating, Heavy Equipment Truck Seats, Pick-Up Truck Seats Bus Seats | Suburban Truck Seat Co. )

They are SWEET-tan leather to match the rest of the interior w/maztching center console/seat! I had looked for over a year for factory buckets, and the re-do on any that I found averaged $650/seat in NC.

OK guys... Who out there has a nice pair of aftermarkey seats? I need some real life feedback. I have looked at Corbeau, Beard and Recaro's. Of course this is all online. My backside has yet to "see" any of these in person. I spend a huge amount of time in my truck as it is also my office. The factory seats just ain't cuttin' it anymore. I would prefer electric adjustments... but is not a must have.

I looked at going to 2nd gen and aftermarket, but as I am trying to make the truck look like it came from the factory with a crew cab (hence everything looking stock, although it is far from it), it has to be 1st gen buckets.



Although that makes it harder, in the end it will be worth it.



As for the 1st gen buckets, I always found them REALLY comfortable.

I had a real hard time finding stock 1st gen seats for my crew. My truck is blue. Ending up buying a complete 92 truck with gray interior. I will swap in a stock bench seat then resell it. I have a set of blue 88 Ramcharger seats and console for the rear. Suggest you try the local wreckers and get them to do a province wide search. Shadrach

I have done many nationwide part searches for the seats. The issue is none of them are really in "use as is" condition...

I have found the air ride seats available for the big rigs. I have also found the air suspension for the 03 and on Dodges. Mine is an 01 and I have already checked out the fab requirements. Not to difficult. My problem is that now I need to find the seats I want. I don't mind spending some cash but I need some feedback on the aftermarket seats.

If you are thinking about going to aftermarket class 8 ("big rig") air ride seats, make sure you have enough room for the base pedestals - some of them are pretty large... occasionally you can find them used in a big-truck salvage yard.

The seats for the large trucks come in "low profile" models, which can fit into pickups fairly easily.

Thanx Phil... But they do not look to be all that supportive. At least not in the rib cage area. I found that Recarro makes a really nice seat for the big rigs but will not sell just the seat, and they do not have an air ride for the small trucks.

The nice thing about 1st gen crews is that the floor is flat in the front seat area, and so is a big rig. Hmmmm! Shadrach
