I got a reman head from cummins because my head was cracked. It is not stamped to tell me how much was milled off. So I used a mic to measure the thickness from the mounting surface to the head bolt surface on my head and the reman. It was about 0. 003 difference. Is this an accurate way to measure? I was planning to use a stock gasket, and just wanted to make sure they didn't take a bunch off, or that it hasn't been milled down more than once.

Since there is no combustion chamber in the head I would think the only issue would be valve interference. I'm thinking stock gasket will be fine. I went . 010 over on my stock head because i think it helps when running advanced timing. I have no issues with starting, etc.
