Changed my batteries cables today. When done reconnected alarm and it went off. Turned it off with the valet switch and key. Finished tightening up cable clamps. Then went to start, full ignition, dash lights but no starter function. Windows won't work with ignition on, nor remote door locks. Jumped the starter with ignition on, truck started and drove home from shop. Figured I needed the remote to reset alarm and make it work. WRONG! I have tried using valet switch and ignition switch, remote control. Can't seem to get it to reset. When I arm it, using remote, honks once, lights flash once but door locks don't lock. The honk is normal, lights normal but the locks not. Again, using the remote to disarm, should honk twice but does not, lights flash twice, normal, but locks not unlock. That's every thing I know, does any one have any idea how to reset this this. It seems to me to be confused, stuck in alarm mode. I have disconnected the batteries for the night in hopes that it will power down and reset by morning. Oh, by the way, aftermarket AudioVox alarm. Will have to tear into under the dash for model number in morning.

Is there a micro switch somewhere that is the "master" (for lack of a better term) reset switch. My aftermarket system has a button about the size of a pinhead under the dash that will cycle the system through a few different modes. I would never have know it was there if the installer hadn't mentioned it. I didn't actually ask for this system to be installed. I was having a Lojack installed and that guy put in an aftermarket alarm as well without asking. I wish he hadn't as I don't really use it. The factory one works just fine. I did, however need to use that tiny little button after I disconnected my batteries and reconnected them. This set the aftermarket alarm off and it shut down the whole truck. At first I didn't know what to do. The key fob wouldn't reset it. After pushing the tiny little button, I was able to kill the aftermarket system and get the truck to behave again.

icman95,Ken, don't know if there is a micro switch til tomorrow. I have a small toggle switch under there that's the valet switch. Hopefully will find more, when I dismantle tomorrow. I hate not having the instructions for this damn thing. This alarm, which is also a remote start, has been in this truck for years and has always worked well. I've disconnected the batteries before without incident but always used the remote when reconnecting, first time I did not have the remote with me. Changed my routine and now paying the price. Tom

Check under and around the steering column for a wire that has an aftermarket fuse holder. Sometimes the installers will fuse the 12v side of the ignition circuit. You could have popped a fuse inadvertently.

If that doesn't solve it there is a web site I used to use back in the day called 12-volt.com if I remember right that has a ton of info o n aftermarket alarms and wiring. You should also be able to get instructions for your model

Thanks for the info concerning fuses. Found one of the two blown, replaced and got back almost all the features of the alarm. Only one not working is the remote start. When I push the button for it, lights flash twice but nothing else happens. Will have to get directions hopefully from that site you gave me. Thanks again. Tom

Remote start works on the ignition wire. Go to that site and look up the general remote start wiring fir your truck model and year.

That will give you the wire color and location to trace. Usually the installer hides the connection above the steering column below the dash. Glad to see you got most of it working

Got the directions from above site. Checked all the wiring, everything was good. Still could not get remote start to work. As a last resort, decided to reprogram the remote I have. Reprogramed all three remotes and guess what!!, Every function of the alarm is now functioning. What the ----!, That's why I dislike these complicated electronic devises. Why would the trouble shooting guide not list this possiblity. Hope this may help someone else with a similar problem. Thanks for input, guys.
