Got bit by my remote start bug again this morning. Some of you may have seen posts by me describing odd things that happen occasionally when I remote start my truck, but then clear on the next start. Had a real good one this morning. After I got up and came downstairs, I remote started my truck to let it warm up, as I have done nearly every morning since the cold weather set in. It was running for about 7 or 8 minutes until I got myself gathered up and was ready to leave. I went out and got in my truck (passive locks worked fine) and hit the Run/Stop button to bring it out of Remote Start mode and into Run mode. Nothing happened. I hit the Run/Stop button a few more times and still nothing. It wouldn't come out of Remote Start mode. So I took the FOB out of my pocket and hit the Remote Start button and the truck shut off. I then tried to start it normally and it would not start. At this point I got a message on the EVIC saying that the FOB was not in the truck, which wasn't true because I had it in my hand. So I thought I'd go get the other FOB and give it a try. Well, my other FOB is in my wife's truck. She carries my spare and I have hers as a "just in case" sort of thing. I opened the truck door to get out and the security alarm went started going off. So I'm hitting the Panic button on my FOB to get it shut off and nothing is happening. I ran back in the house, unlocked my wife's truck and my my spare FOB, jumped back in my truck, started it and hit the Panic button on that FOB to shut the alarm off. That worked and the truck seemed to be running okay. So I locked everything back up and headed into work. This all happened at 4:15 this morning, so I'm sure that my neighbors just love me now. After I got to work and shut the truck off, the heated seat lights and the heated steering wheel light on the buttons in the console did not go out when the truck shut off. I tried pushing both buttons and nothing happened. After a few minutes, they finally went out.
I went outside just a few minutes ago with only my FOB (left the spare FOB on my desk) to see if everything had cleared itself. I was able to unlock and lock the truck with the remote. The passive unlock worked fine. Got in the truck and started it just fine. Left it run a few minutes then shut it off. Everything seems okay now. The only odd thing was that after I opened the door with the passive unlock, the door immediately locked again by itself. I hadn't touched any of the buttons on the door and the FOB was laying on the driver's seat. Other than that, it all seems to be working as it should again.
Any thoughts or ideas?
