Man, Im running out of bombs myself. Im not sure where to go next. The HP is already more than the transmission can take for any extended periods with me behind the wheel:D

Hoping to break the dyno this weekend in Tulsa, but my clutch slips after about 480HP on the road. I have a dyno appointment this friday to get it tuned to max power without slipping on the dyno.

fingers crossed.

Don~

I have already talked to Peter about our next clutch he has one ready for us to find the HP limits. Your right in the money about the trans it makes all sorts of noise when you get on the throttle down low.

Sure is fun!!! But I'm backing her down after our local Dyno days so I can get through the summer and then this fall my head is going on and hopefully a camshaft :D

I wonder if a race cam, twin turbos, a twin disc clutch etc, etc, etc are on "DC's Approval list"????

My engine is BOMBED, so are the lubricants, and the Amsoil SDF 80 is the best full flow filter available at this time.

And it is only about $5 more than a Stratapore, not 3 times the cost.

You kids would be well advised to take the next HP step and head for OHIO!!!!!!:D

Need feedback

I want some feedback and opinions from those of you using the single remote by-pass from Amsoil (BMK-11). I sent an e-mail to the Amsoil tech dept regarding using the dual remote (BMK-15) vs the single remote (BMK-11) for the Cummins ISB application. The response I got was the BMK-11 is not recommended for our trucks and that the BMK-15 is designed for our Cummins application. Rather vague answer I got (no details as to why or anything), so I was hoping some of you with real-world testing could offer some feedback.

I think they want the larger sale....

They will tell you that because it is twice the money. I personally use the Dual and am happy with it. Sure makes the filter changes easier. But many people are using the single with no ill side effects. The single is pretty easy to install also because there are a line of oil port alond the bottom drivers side of the block. Then they either tap the valve cover or the oil cap for the oil return. You can't go wrong with either the single or dual.

Here is a question for you guys. Would you put the by-pass filtration system on a brand new engine or would you wait and give the Cummins a few miles to break-in first? Like maybe install the by-pass filter after the first oil change? I'm thinking the by-pass filter might slow the break-in process, and since I have nothing to tow or haul it could be a very very long time before I achived the point in the break-in process when fuel economy and performance starts to pick up.

Many moons ago wasn't there something mentioned Cummins had a bulletin out advising against changing the factory fill oil before the recommended first oil change interval because the initial wear particles accumulating in the factory fill oil helped facilitate engine break-in?? If this is the case then wouldn't the by-pass system just prolong engine break-in??

Were I to buy a new truck today?

On the absence of solid evidence, I would leave the factory oil and filtration in place until 5K miles, and drive the engine as recommended. I would sample the oil upon delivery and at eat oil change until I switch to synthetic.

At 5K, I would install the dual bypass and run dino oil for another 5K-10K miles, depending on how hard the engine is worked. Then I would switch to synthetic lube, extended drain and periodic analysis.

I wouldn't put it off for 65K miles as I did with this truck!

1tuffram, I would run the bypass filter from day one and not be worried one bit. It should not impeade break-in at all because all it is doing is filtering better. Synthetics however should not be used right away.
