The inside of the mirror is held in place by a round mounting and the glass should just pop out by pulling on the glass, BUT IT doesn't. The glass will break. I made a tool to reach in there and undo the clips type holder to release the mounting.
What do you need to do with the mirror? I put external marker/turn signal lites on mine and had them apart numerous times. And was able to change out the motors also. These will also break if pulled on.
Here is a link to the Invented by Muth: Perfected by Muth? - Signal Mirrors® - Mirror Systems and fill in the vehicle etc and go to the bottom of the page to get your install. When I copied it before it was all in color and good instructions. Now its more of a drawing good luck. You might try a screw driver to help get the mirror housing seperated.
Thanks for the reply, I will look in there to see how it is held on. Can you try to describe or take a picture or your tool? I found a how to, installing LEDs for turn signals that doesn't look cheesy.
Most of these mirrors are retained by a ring of plastic retaining clips into a mating ring mount. I would go to the kitchen and search up a pair of plastic/rubber cooking spatulas to ease the mirror/easel off the mount. Screwdrivers/pry bars just don't cut it IMHO

Here is the photos of this expensive tool. after moods. Harbor tool is where I bought a door panel removal kit and this tool was staright. I bent the end of said tool and then put a slight curve in the wings to fit the curvature of the snap ring holding the inside of the mirror. When removing keep a slight pressure on the mirror part to removed it might just pop out when you lest expect it to. To replace the mirror gental full coverage pressure on the mirror and will snap back in.
Did you get the mirror project done? I'd like to see your LED's and how you did this part of the job. I didn't use LED's for the turn signal, for me they were to directional, they work better if straight on viewing.
