You detail guys should know what is the best product to use or easiest way to remove the wax residue on black plastic trim like door handles, body moldings, etc if you get a little sloppy with the wax job. :D

Yes, I too would like to know this. I have a little wax on the door handles from a wax job from 2 years ago. Does it ever wear off. :(

Peanut Butter. Quit laughing. It works. Same thing happened to me on one of my previous trucks. I read about this under a detail section for VWs so I tried it and it works. Have not tried the WD40. Get you a good wax that don't leave any white residual on the moldings and you want have this problem. This is when I learned about Klasse too. Very easy to use and gives a good shine and lasts up to a year. But you have to order it from one of the sights that sell it.

I use a product that does not turn the plastic trim white. Just makes it shine like the paint.

Black Shoe Polish!:D

I waxed and then waited for a year for the darn stuff to fade from the door handles etc. , finally I cleaned it really good and then applied black shoe polish! Works like a charm. I ended up polishing all the black trim with it!!

A old toothbrush and some hot soapy water will usually do the trick. If that doesn't work Armor All Cleaner and a old tooth brush, scrub lightly and they will come clean. Afterwards when I am done,Mothers "Back to Black" on top and buff to shine with a terry cloth... ... ..... Andy

I used's a product like that on my 95 Chevy. it was called "Dura Shine". Just apply on painted surface an the trim an let it set a bit an rinse off with a garden hose. It seemed to work ok, I know it was easy to apply. Left a sheeting action on the paint instead of beading up. Bought it a Walmart for a while, but don't see it there anymore. Anyway thanks to everyone for your suggestions.

lschultz is right... . peanutbutter.

Toothbrush dipped in pb. It works instantly with almost no scrubbing. Wipe off with wet cloth and wipe with your favorite protectant... . 303 is my choice.

The other products I've tried just masked it till the next wash.

I have some stuff called Clear Guard that I use. It really shines up the plastic and doesn't leave a residue that collects dust. Makes it look like it just came off of the showroom.
