I just replaced my fuel sender and when I pulled the sender and housing out the bottom part that looks like it slides up and down had one of the screws out of the track and the base was in a bind and it had worn a small groove in the slot from were the screw was binding put it all back together so it would slide again and put in the new sender got it all back together and turned on the key. Gauge set for awhile then went up to about the 3/4 mark bounced alittle then dropped to empty, I messed with the plug a bit and the gauge went back up and stayed but when I rock the truck back and forth the gauge will bounce and pulsate up and down then slowly return to it's original mark maybe a little towards the full mark gauge and when I rocked it back and forth it did not move. It was registering alittle over 3/4 of a tank with new sender and between 1/2 and 3/4 with the old sender.
It was only taking me 17 gallons to fill from 1/4 tank on the gauge with the old sender so I thought the sender was going out and I am leaving this Sat. on a 2500 mile round trip and want the gauge to be working right so I new some quick answers or suggestions.
After driving to work tonight the gauge is registering about 1 1/2 needles under full with 147 miles on the trip odometer does this sound right to you guy's?
Thanks,
Paul
