Original muffler shot at 41,000 miles. Hard to believe. I purchased an MBRP S6126409 - Turbo Back, Single Side Exit, T409 Stainless system and put in on yesterday. It was a grunt to get the old one off by myself and removed it by cutting the hangers and through the pipes in a couple of places. That thing is heavy. I supported the system with jack stands while cutting it off to make it easier and safer. The front hanger on the down pipe was about 1/2 inch out of alignment with the hanger mount and was a struggle to get it to fit. Wish I had a torch to bend a few things. The result was a nice clean system but I'm not happy with the noise level. Its a lot louder than the original and thats not even towing anything. I contacted the manufacturer and said I need something to quieten this down. Looks like I have to purchase another "quiet tone" muffler for another $170. 00 from them. No where in there on line catalogue do they offer a system with a quiet muffler. Too bad.

What does your exhaust system include? Muffler, resonator, or both? If you have both, it should only be marginally louder than the oem. A muffler only system will increase in cab noise and adding a resonator will tone things down substantially inside for you.

It was muffler only and straight through. You could look right through it so no wonder it's noisy.

Went a similar route with Silverline and the drone was terrible. They shipped me a 2nd muffler which barely made a difference. Do a search on Donaldson mufflers and you will find a wealth of information on this site. For $90 I was able to install a muffler that took all of the drone out, it is aluminized not stainless but after 4 years it looks better than the stainless muffler I left in the system to utilize the integral hangers.

I've towed with an aftermarket exhaust before. Never again. Why should you have to buy additional parts to make it useable?

I don't feel I should have to buy additional parts but they do not guarantee quiet plus the website never offered a "quiet" system but surprise, there is a quiet muffler available. I'm into it now so need to do something to quieten it down . It just seems difficult to impossible to find a complete stainless system from turbo back that is QUIET.

I don't require quiet. I do require no drone. Drone gets very tiresome after towing a few hundred miles.

hmm, The tail pipe fell right off of my 02 last summer while on a long road trip. I had it replaced with a 4" Magnaflow. It is a little louder, but not so much that I didn't get used to it right away. May be a little drone, but really not all that much. And, I really don't even notice it. The truck does run cooler now:), so I don't start to sweat on really steep grades pulling my TT.

Has anyone run an 86131M Nelson muffler? It is a 4" in and out with a 9" body and is 51" AOL including the nipples. It is actually meant for a vertical application on a big thruck but I have heard of people running them on a Dodge before. David

Wow... interesting that you had a Silverline system drone. . Which system did you install? Only reason I ask is that I have the SIlverline T304 system on mine and there is absolutely no drone in the cab. Even when pulling up a long hill at 30+ lbs of boost...
Before ordering my system, I spoke with a guy from Silverline and he admitted the aluminized system was simply made to compete in that price point against other systems.
