Read a post rerguarding a Donaldson. I checked it out and a Donaldson from the local dealer is only $78 bucks. Almost $200 for a pipe and a few clamps? Is the Aero muffler that much better?

I doubt it. I think that theres some "engineering" to be done if you swap to a straight through design muffler. So that pipe may become a Godsend. Know what I mean?

Looks like they are just rotating the factory pipe to get a str8 through muffler to fit. The Donaldson is a 4 in/out as well. The hardest paer looks to be how to hang it. The Aero setup comes with the hangers.

JRG if you don't want the Aeroturbine kit Diesel Power Products can give you the right pipe and a 4" straight through muffler instead. A word of warning though, the Aeroturbine sounds quite a bit better (been there done that).

Vaughn,

Please don't tell me you don't like your Donaldson! I just got one today for $80 bucks. The local shop said he could put it in for $65 big ones!

FYI. The Donaldson flows over 2500 cfm. and was said to not have any drone. Not sure what muffler DPP is using.

I had checked YOUR profile to sway me to get it. Did I f**k up?

PS Whats up with that "lite" turbo?

Check out my readers rigs picks. Vaughn set it all up a long time ago.

Vaughn cn probably give the thread name so you can do a search.

Thanks Vaughn :)

I don't know about the CFM ratings, or anything else, but many of the guys I work with have decided to run straight pipes. I'm not big on that, so for the same price, I had a local muffler shop put in a glass-pack muffler. I do get a bit of drone (quite a bit when I'm pulling hard)--but I suspect that some of it will quiten down with a well-placed muffler hanger--I've determined most of what I hear in the cab is vibration rather than exaust note.

Outside, it's rather loud, but not as loud as a gasser with straights or even glass-packs... and my total cost was $65 installed.

Just something to consider--I have had a slight mileage improvement, but I won't attribute it specifically to a muffler, since I do work it so hard--but to the tune of around . 5 MPG under load... .

--Just my thoughts.
