Is it possible to put new power folding mirrors on a 2012 Ram 3500. They tell me my drivers side assembly needs to be replaced and I thought I had seen somebody buying 2016 mirrors and retrofitting them on a 2011. If it can be done I just may do it but I always try and stick with OEM parts.

I'm sure it's possible, but you might have do your own wiring and install a remote switch. I know the interior changed in 2013 +, so I don't know if the trucks share the same armrest control switches.

I never thought I'd use the power fold on my truck. I've used them 2-3 already in tight situations.

The power folding mirrors are one of the best options on my truck. Use them daily when pulling into the garage.

Not feasible in my opinion.they use modules for control as well as a different switch and wiring. The bcm would have to be configured to match the option

I've looked into it, but is not as simple.

You will need the mirrors, the switch bezle (the power fold button is the one that is blank between the left and right switch for the tilt adjustment), as well as the two door modules.

Then the car will have to be coded to accept the power fold mirror. From my research you'll have add sales code "LER" and remove the sales codes "COD" and "GPC".

The part that I'm still unclear of and it's my last hurdle before I add it on the to do list is whether or not trucks that were produce when the power folding mirror where not available as an option would accept the coding or not. You may want to contact 1aauto.com: they have done some video on retrofitting of power folding and they may give you more specific information.

If you ever find the answer, let me know as I'm very interested. The parts are really not that expensive, you'll have to speak to you dealership before hand, maybe with one of the techs and confirm they are willing to the the coding and they understand it. You may very well be able to turn around and resell your current mirrors to recoup some of the cost.
