A bit over 11 quarts when I did mine. The little spin off can-filter drained for almost two hours, about the time it took me to get the RTV cleaned off the pan. I use all Super Tech fluids including their ATF+4.

I have done my transmission service every 40,000 miles with new filters and 9.5 QRTS of ATF+4 fluid. I have a deep dish Mag-Hytec pan which adds 2.5 QRTS of additional fluid. I do not drain the transmission overnight nor do I let the little spin on filter drain anymore than necessary. As long as the fluid is not burnt nor has there been an internal transmission parts failure, there is no need to drain the transmission dry.
Just my opinion based on my experience with vehicles in the last 50 years of owning them. I have always service any automatic transmission just like I have my 68RFE is serviced with no issues in longevity.

I get the filters from Genos and mopar fluid on eBay. I do the partial change about 30k miles. Since I have a few quarts left over I will start the partial change on the power steering reservoir on my up coming spring service. I just draw out what I can with a suction gun and refill. The same transmission filters are used on our grand Cherokee.

I popped mine apart at the front drivers side quick connects and exchanged at least 13 quarts. You can see exactly when the old fluid is out as the color change is dramatic.

I always say why not when it's so easy to do so on the 68, 47 and 48. AISIN not so much!

Well, if you see a color change between the old and new, then the old stuff was in there too long, or there is an internal issue in the trans!
At 60K miles, mine comes out looking just like new fluid.

My 2016 6.7 2500 was due a 60,000 mile transmission service. I went ahead and purchased the Mag-Hytec pan and filters from Geno's. I had an independent shop do a complete fluid replacement and went with Amsoil ATF. I know, it's not ATF+4. This truck has never shifted this smoothly. Hitched up the Airstream and did a 2000 mile round
trip to Key West. The difference was noticeable. I caught the Bonito's, wife caught the Tuna! LOL!

Is the amsoil fluid listed to be a replacement spec for atf+4???

If not, hope it doesn't end up reducing the life of the clutches.

Hank you are a brave Man talking AMZ/OIL and "complete fluid replacement"

No, he just didn't say it is a must, nor did he try to convince any newbies that it is necessary. Nor did he try to deny that a partial change is all the factory suggests/requires for normal service. He also probably understand that transmission fluid lives in a completely different environment that engine oil and that it is not a fair comparison. Therefore, he knows that asking things like "would you only change part of your engine oil" is not relevant and is a silly comparison.

No you didn't, you posted on my message directed directly to Hank.

So, when you said "Hank you are a brave Man talking AMZ/OIL and "complete fluid replacement", you weren't referencing the ongoing debate in question?

If that is the case, why would Hank to be brave to mention that? What did you mean then?
