The 68RFE is good at Stock power levels, most that drive it and maintain it correctly are trouble free, Add HP and watch out, it can be destroyed in miles. What is that famous saying better to have and NOT need than to need and NOT have. If You buy the 2500 with the 68 and tow it will work.

Dogpatch ,You ask about the Transmission, Most members here will post there positive experience, They own 1 truck and in most cases take awesome care of it, I had several Trucks with 47/48REs pull 25-30K with them (Yes they were built trans) I freshen them up about every 125K they never broke or failed, Just because I pull big time with them and they lasted does not = they are equal/better to the Aisin. I dropped and built Most of My 48s within 500 miles of ownership (New) Heck High Class Hooker and many others are running the 48s in the 2.6 pulling trucks at power levels 1000HP+ some have lasted over 50 Hooks..Just some info most sleds weighs it at 40K.

My Aisins are the 1st Factory Transmissions that have lasted W/O being upgraded ,Yes I even had Allison's that failed, I don't own Fords and I rarely work on them ,I send all the Fords to Hooze's up the road form here, but the TorqShift (Ford) 6R140 is a darn robust Trans.

I call it as I see it, Not because I own it, and I see a lot.

Ya! I thought this thread was about me! Let's get this back on track and talk about me and my new deal! LOL

Your deal hinged on your desire for the Aisin transmission as one of the main underpinnings, so it did not go that far off track other than those that jumped in and said you did not really need an Aisin when you stated you wanted one.

I wanted one and bought the last 2015 in the nation that had the other features, color, buckets/console, no 20" rims, no be view camera and no sunroof that were on my list of requirements. We were willing to travel to get it. I stuck by my guns and you should also in the long run.

It is great that you dealer is working with you to make you happy, so don't compromise in the end. Hold them to the final agreement when the time arrives.

Dont sell yourself short....wait for the aisin...there is a night and day difference. I like stabs idea...see what the dealership is willing to do...or better yet call ram customer care and be nice to them...gotta be some other avenue to get the truck u really want

I really do appreciate everyone's input. I learn even from the banter! This is why I joined this forum. It's invaluable information in an area I am unfamiliar.

Aside from towing an 18' overweight travel trailer, (4) 20' boats and a few parade floats, I've never hauled anything this heavy.

Its because use of this Forum that I want a truck with an Aisin in it and that's what I ordered up until the deal went kaput two days ago.

That was my methodology, as TCDiesel said "Better to have and not need than to need and not have". The reason I was buying the truck was to tow. I wasn't buying a truck to have a new truck. My 2013 Ford F-150 Platinum 4x4 was a gorgeous, well appointed truck with only 40,000 miles on it. It just couldn't tow a 5th wheel in the size I wanted with the amenities that surpassed the 40' DP we just sold.

I could have settled for a different truck with Aisin, but because it's the end of the month, other dealers that carried the truck with options I wanted and even trucks with options I didn't want weren't getting back to my dealer. I didn't have the luxury of waiting it out, ordering a new truck, finding another dealer, etc. I had ONE day to get a truck with 0% financing.

I'm a single income family with a truck allowance. I'm not retired or independently wealthy, just a guy who does well at work and can afford our lifestyle. It was the 0% financing that makes the new truck affordable for me to carry and stay within my means. I had one day to make a decision and my dealer put something together that will work in the short term. The dealer knows exactly what I'll be towing and my concerns for wanting the Aisin based on what I've learned on this and other forums. If the transmission craps out during the short term I expect to have this truck, it will be fixed! This truck will never be out of full warranty before it's gone and a new one with Aisin transmission and all the options I want is in my driveway.

The dealer pulled out all stops to get me and keep me as a client. I've always been a Ford guy because of our fleet discounts. Our company has 52 Ford products from Escapes to Cube vans in our fleet. They know what that could mean in getting our company over to their side. Our vehicles are turned over every 4-5 years and our maintenance program on our fleet is huge.

I'm happy and feel they have done what they could for the short term. If you read my post above, they did just that and more and am confident they will come through to get me into the truck I want. It's all about timing for me. 0% financing works, the company pays for most of the truck, I own it and I make the profit off the truck when I sell it when it's time for a new one.

I apologize for derailing this into a 68rfe vs. AISIN debate. That was not my intent.

The point I was trying to make was how important it is to get what you want and to not settle. I originally wanted the 4.10 gears and AISIN but settled because I didn't want to wait. There were no DRW trucks local with the trim level I wanted so I settled for something a salesman said, "Sure this thing can tow anything you want!" Well, the little voice inside my skull knew better but the kid in me refused to wait so I jumped on it.

68rfe is a great trans. AISIN is a great trans. Both have their pros and cons. However, for MY NEEDS the AISIN and 4.10 gears work perfect, and I like how the truck shifts and drives over the '13.

GET WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY and DO NOT SETTLE just so you get the truck a few weeks sooner, or you may be back on this forum asking, "Should I trade this thing in for a new truck because I just hate X, Y and Z".

NDanecker, no apologies needed. As I said in previous posts, personally I learn from all of you. As well, the truck I ended up with is only temporary. An Aisin equipped truck is in the near future once I can get one that meets my financing needs. (0%)

What matters if you're content when writing the monthly payment.

I really can't find one thing that says Dodge on my '14. Sad....as to me it will always be a Dodge (and that is not a bad thing). :)
